Does anyone have the switch and would you measure the resistance on it?

A regular toggle switch will work. I had a Vanakken Smartbox with a switch under the dash to turn it on. Good box for towing. Wish I had kept it. Bought an EZ box now, and like it too.

I have both the box and the switch.
If I recall correctly the resistance on the 50% setting is 2.7kOhm. The Open setting I think is 100% and the closed setting is Boost Fooling Only, zero % power increase.
Take a look at this one:

Thanks I will see what I can do. The box works great for power just seems to smoke a lot down low in the rpm's. I see you are in longmont I am down near salida does yours smoke a lot?

will the one that plugs into the pump itself work on all years or just the early ones? I know theres another version that plugs into the map and data link too. Which one is better?

I have the R version wich is the one that plugs into the pump it is suppose to be for a 98.5-2000 I have it on my 02. The map sensor plugs are different but I had to put a new map on and had to buy a wiring adapt and the map sensor that dodge sells hooks directly to the VA box. The VA also cam with a set of adapters for a different map sensor but not one that would fit the original map on the 02.

I really have to watch my right foot or it will smoke a lot. Basically I can't accelerate rapidly until I hit 1,500 rpm, after which it will take any peday pressure and basically take off flying. If I push it at 1,200 rpm it will also take off but with a dense smoke tail.
With 10,000 lbs in tow I can't keep VA on Full power in the summer or it will smoke on every hill. In the winter it worked great though, although I seem to have gotten worse fuel mileage.
For summer I found the 50% setting best for daily driving and towing. The EGTs are the coldest, there is still power and once the truck warms up, there is very little smoke unless you step on it.
The 5-6,000 ft elevations contribute a lot to smoke I think. I am still thinking about 3rd gen turbo but never had the time. If I get one with the elbow inexpensively from one of the third gen guys who upgraded, I will give it a shot. BigBlue24 did it and likes it a lot; I think his elevation range is lower than CO, so for us it would be better still.

I just bought a ts mvp and going to try it out I have to shut the va off in town it smokes way to much. My over fueled 12 valve smoked less than this one.

Well, mine is not quite as bad. I was interested in MVP but $500 vs $120 was the deciding point. Besides, I get all the power I need for towing form Mach 1.6 and VA provides boost fooling even if I turn it off completely.
I think the point is, ANYTHING that adds fuel early will cause smoke because boost is not there yet. All existing modules do. Stock turbo can't quite keep up building boost. Conclusion: nothing you can do, just watch your right foot. This is especially true at high elevations.

Paul I just put the ts on and it smokes very little but it has all the power and more than the va it might have just a tad bit of more lag. I like it the va was just to smokey on the bottom I was afraid I would get stoped. This ts seems to pull harder on the top than the va egt's are still down to a controllable level maybe even cooler than the va. The va I had was for a 98.5-2000 and I had it on a 02 that might be the difference. I only gave 180.00 for the ts I had given 100 for the va.

Wow, did you get the mvp used? I was quoted 3 times as much when I called them. I would get one for 180.00 to try.
Now that you mentioned it, I'd say VA does not fuel much at high rpm. But I am not sure its really needed? There is a lot of torque there even stock. Maybe a bit more would allow me to stay in 4th on steep hills... hmmm. Need to think.

Yea I bought it used there are some pretty good deals on chips out there if you just keep looking. The VA might be better for towing as it seems to have more on the bottom the ts seems like it waits until boost starts to build and then starts fueling??

Richard Martin at Glacier Diesel hooked me up with a OEM Van Aaken switch and MAP sensor adapters for mine and was absolutely first class to deal with. He might still have some in stock. Mine came with a jumper plug in it.

Randy.
