valve adjustment?

i have heard some people talking in the past about adjusting there valves differently for gains... all i remember them saying was to take the exhaust valve down to 0.015. are there realy gains from this? are there any other combinations of adjustments? what are the pros and cons? even worth attempting? let me know what you think.

i have never hers of anything like it but i had some bad things happen from valves being out of adjustment like the rocker bolts stripping out the holes. its not a good feeling to hear that sound

I have heard of it, but couldn't find enough info. to feel like I was gaining anything. I just adjusted mine to stock spec, and I believe the 5 & 6 exhaust valves were out of adjustment. It made a small difference in sound at idle, but other than that I didn't notice much

As I understand it, by running tighter clearances, you in effect lengthen the duration of the valve being open. The gains are very small at best (if any) and obviously you run closer to the point of . . . . "Uh Oh! What's that sound!?"

Tighter tolerance can mean not enough expansion room when at temperature, or running under high load or high rpm. Use the factory specs. The potential theoretical gain is not worth the risk.
