Jason, nobody is saying that peters clutches are bad... They are GREAT clutches, BUT they ARE Greatly OVERPRICED. IMO

The Clutch Ive got cost $450 and is holding very well for the mods ive got.

The only part of the post I was laughing at was the loser and his claims, I am sure the clutch works well for many people, I have no experince with them so have no leg to stand on to bash them.
I choose SB for the customer support and was lucky as I had some slight issues and peter didn't even to blink to send me a full clutch and upgraded it to a fe free of charge and never requested to see the old clutch, he trusted me and that is why I choose to pay more, if you do some reading which I am sure you have peter has taken care of every issue I have heard off including things out of his hands. One fella took a truck to a carwash and the attendent drove it in to the wash and was slipping the clutch and peter even replaced that. I have always supported people who still care about the customer after they have your money and this is a rare thing these days. My next clutch will again be a SB based on the way I was treated.

AGAIN The post was not meant to take shots at the clutch only the guy talking about it, I mean 2500ftlbs.. he seemed to be preaching about things he didn't know about. We have plenty of those guys even here..... there dogs friends brothers girlfriend dad runs it and it works great kind of senairo I only speak of things I have run or had experince with and really which everyone else would do the same.... anyway I am way off topic

very well agreed here..

500 miles on this clutch as of today, and i will say that the more u drive with this clutch the better it gets, it is setting in and grabbing more and more daily. Granted tho, it does not seem to like hard third gear launches at boost of 10 psi and what not, but in 4wd, at 10 psi in second gear, HOLD ON!!! this thing is now a serious contender in light challenges with no slip and it just goes...

IN this process to i managed to hook on 14 average to small sized round bales, 800-1000 max, im thinkin more to 800 lbs. I estimated to be at about 10K in hay and 5K in trailer, and thats when this clutch really shines. With a load behind it.. Smooth shifting, but it does have a bit of chatter when backin up a trailer with smaller loads. with 15K behind it, no chatter

driving with it requires a bit more throttle than ur used to, but again i think this thing is still setting in a little bit and the ceramics have to wear out a bit more and seat properly. Then i think its gonna get much grabbier than what it already is...

I cant say that i have complaints about it, it just takes some gettin used to with it. But i am very satisfied wtih their products....

Will hit back in a few more miles (1500 plus perhaps)

post up in 30k miles... it'll be interesting to see how it holds up and or if it digs a trench in the flywheel...

it'll also be interesting to see what kind of customer service you get if the thing grenades... because I know for a fact, if you grenade an SBC, you get VERY well taken care of!!!

Yikes! I hope for Rick's sake it isn't....I can't imagine that would be any fun to tow and daily drive with.

 

No it is a sprung disc.

the pressure plate has a 3800# plate load.

and ive had mine in for 15000 miles and three hooks... and its still holding up so far.

I had 1 of their old clutches with no springs in the middle and it was way too jerky. then i broke the input shaft and demolished the trans. so i was kind of worried about trying them out again but saw their new clutches and had to have one. but i like mine hooks up real good not so harsh either.
