upgrading sp66 turbo
#16
I could get temps into the red zone while waiting for the turbo to spool up, but once the boost was up the temps would back off. Max boost i saw out of that turbo was around 48-50 psi. I never had any problems driving the truck around unloaded, it was only when i towed that i had problems. For example, i pulled about a 12K trailer filled with loam and i would have to drop the truck into 2nd gear and bring my RPMS up around 2300 or so to generate about 25psi of boost to haul the load up a hill going to my mothers house. Cruising the highway at 75 i would see about 5-6 psi of boost and about 850 or so on the EGT, now i see about 8psi of boost and temps about 700 to 750.

yea that helps. im getting confused though industrial injection said that the 71mm wheel will definatly help. htturbo is saying i should get a 71 wheel in a stainless 13 housing because it will spool quicker. everyone here is saying a 66mm turbo is big. i thought a 66 was going to be right for my truck because i tow about 5 times a year and thats only about 8,000 lbs. it has 4.10 gears so the rpms are always over 2000. and i am going to run a set of mach 6s. i wish someone with a pro street66 or sps66 would chime in
