upgrading sp66 turbo

i was wondering if anyone on here has went from a sled puller 66 style or phat shaft turbo to say a pro street 66 or super phat shaft 66. my turbo has a 65mm wheel with a 14cm housing. i was also wondering about the stainless housing. my old sps62 with the 71mm wheel kept my truck cooler then my sled puller 66 i would like to upgrade to a pro street

You don't need much spoolup, eh?

The big turbine on a big compressor with an auto trans is recipe for a smoky truck and high EGTs. No towing for you!

well thats my problem to begin with my sp66 spools quicker than my old sps62 i think that is because my sp has less rotating mass then the sps. so there is no way around high egts unless you make a set of twins. i traded my sps for the sp66 to upgrade to a set of mach6s eventualy. does aneyone on here run a 66/13/71 htt turbo

give HTT a call and ask them if the turbo can be upgraded, that is were you will most likely get the best answer. I was going to ask them that if i no one wanted to trade

Talk to Garrett(Bobcat698) as he did exactly what you are asking, had a Sled Puller and a Pro Street.

Is that a typo? You're saying a 66 spools faster than a 62?

no its not a typo, they actualy spool about the same. my old sps 62 had a 71mm exhaust wheel where my sp66 has a 65mm wheel. the sled puller has less rotating mass than the super phat shaft. the sled puller spools to 10 fast then its smooth to 45. where my sps spooled and when't straight to 52.

flat out with the sps i only saw around 1400. with the sp66 i can hit 1500 with ease. and when crusing the sp66 is about 200 hotter. i talked to a guy at industrial injection and he said they dont even sell a 66/14/65 turbo anymore he said the turbine wheel is way to small for the compressor

The 71 wheel will just cause more heat & slower spool on your setup, I'd get the Quick Diesel 64 before upgrading the 66.

I did notice a drop in EGT with the SPS 62 being on there, i would say that my truck is running about 200-250* cooler then it was before. I see about the same boost out of each turbo, the SPS 62 gets there quicker keeping things cooler because of less lag. Over the weekend i hauled my buddies truck on a car trailer down to Mass Diesel and i never saw temps over 1100* degrees the entire trip running at 70 mph and i got almost 12mpg. I was happy with it.
