Unplugged Map Observations

Unplugged Map Observations
I've been driving around with my map sensor unplugged for a few months now. I decided to plug it back in because with the warmer weather I'm starting to notice just how dirty my injectors can be even with the comp on 1x2. So I plugged it in and went for a 200 mile round trip to see mom. First thing I noticed was lack of response. The truck was a dog. Next thing I noticed is that climbing hills with the cruise was a lot smoother and the EGT's stayed lower by almost 100*. I turned the comp on 5x5 and romped on it from a dead stop and it took a while before it finally lit. With the map unplugged it would just take off like a bat out of hades. A stomp on 1x2 was pathetic. It didn't light off until almost 2000 rpm's where as before it was almost instantly. I haven't tried on 1x5 yet but will tomorrow but so far from what I've noticed is that unplugging the map sure did wake up the bottom end on my beast a lot. I also noticed that my smoke was WAY down. Normal accelerating up a hill at 70 used to leave a pretty decent little trail but now there's none. Just thought I'd throw this out there for yall.

i agree.
when i first unplugged mine i really wasnt impressed, but its when i plugged it back in that i noticed the lack of response. and w/o it plugged in i get a lot of surging when using cruise (50-65mph zone), i just turn the comp off and it tones down.
its very easy to smoke with it unplugged. i dont care for it since daily driving becomes a chore with all these stoplights!

Will it throw any codes if I have the map sensor unplugged from the engine but still plugged into the comp harness and have the comp off? I have ran it unplugged before with the comp on but never off. Reason is is that I always let my truck warm up a lil bit before I turn the comp on.

I haven't had any negative effects other than smoke. My truck idles, runs, and drives the same. Just with a big loss of bottom end. Oh well. Come thursday I won't have that problem. Come on 100 grand.
