UNI Air Filter mod w/heat shield
I decide to try a washable Uni air filter on my truck, also fabed a crude heat shield to go along with it. The filter is really well known in the motorcross/atv crowd.
I had a BHAF on before and the first difference I noticed was the turbo is more noticable under WOT bursts. I can't say I noticed any performance gains.

Where there any particular requirements that you looked at when you purchased this filter like airflow, size or ease of fitting? We have uni's in the UK and fitting one would make life a lot easier and cheaper than having to import one?

Hey Kurt!
I think that you should be able to get a BHAF from the Cummins dealer too. Just give them the numbers you find under BHAF in this document:
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...rt_numbers.pdf
There's also a heatshield template in the FAQ section of this site for the BHAF.
I'm not trying to badmouth any filter but thought it might be worthwhile to consider a dry filter since you seem to be stock I'm shure it will flow enough air.

Thanks AlpineRAM will have a look at all options, I see your point though about the dry filter. The problem I have is finding out how much air flow goes in and what size filter to get, but I have just purchased a full workshop manual on CD which will be arriving soon and will give the info I need.

Kurt, IMHO the general consensus is that the BHAF with a heatshield will flow enough for more than 300hp- except if towing heavy you might get towards teh edge with EGTs, then a system like the scotty comes in handy. I've run my Edge Pulse plus Mach3s with the BHAF and the Scotty in comparison. Both with controllable EGTs, the scotty always running lower than the BHAF, but I assume it's due to positive pressure of cold air from the outside with the scotty that makes the difference.
