under seat storage box

Hello all,
Thinking of building under rear seat storage box or boxes for my 96. Any suggestions, dimensions, advice. Possibly, it would be wiser to just purchase plastic containers with lids. Has any one gone this route? Thanks,
BIG MIKE

2002 CTD have a tray under the back seat. You can use that for a measurement. Or you might just stop at a wrecking yard and grab a tray.

Mine didn't come with one either.

Couple I test drove prior to mine both had it, so I assumed it was standard.

Nope.
Double checked the window sticker of a couple on the lot against mine, and yup, it was an option.

Priced one later and they wanted like $350 for the basic one.

Got a locking one for around $150 from the same parts counter.
Looks just like the one that was in the other trucks.

Still haven't gotten around to hooking up the locking mechanism though.
