Two thumbs up! Redline and Bilstein
I have to give two thumbs up to the Reline MTL I installed in my 6 speed tranny and the new Bilstein shocks I installed today. After new tires and the Bilteins I fell like I am driving a brand new truck... But I don't ever remember the ride being this smooth. Also the MTL really cleaned up the shifting... shifts are smother and easier to make.

I just wanted to share my opinions on these 2 products.

Horace

Tell me about the research into various fluids, including the Mopar stuff. Doesn't Mopar have a synthetic fluid already in the DEE tranny? you guys are recommending dumping the factory fluid and put in RedLine MTL in there?

My only complaints with my 6 speed is that sometimes 3rd gear is hard to nail, and when stopped, 2nd gear is hard to get into. Does the Redline stuff help this? I'm assuming that the RL meets all the DC specs and is just better fluid for this tranny, correct?

Re:Two thumbs up! Redline and Bilstein
Following was sent to a friend of mine after he asked about Redline MTL and the Chrysler specification. Read his question and the Redline tech's response below.
--------------------------------------------------------
>Can you tell me whether your Redline MTL product meets
>Chrysler's specification MS-9224 for lube oil in the NV5600 >truck transmission? Are there substantive differences
>between MS-9224 oils like the Texaco MTX, GM, and
> Pennzoil Syncromesh, and Redline MTL?
The MTL will satisfy the Chrysler MS-9224 spec in all applications including warranty requirements for the NV5600 transmission.
The biggest differences between the lubes you mention and the MTL is the base stock protection offered and the consistency of the shift. In our tests, our polyol ester base stock offers higher film strength, better viscosity characteristics and a more ideal coefficient of friction for improved shiftability and synchro action over the those other oils.

I have no reason so far to question this guy. I had an occasional grind between 2nd and 3rd, and notchy shifting between 3rd and 4th. So did my friend in his NV5600. After a change to Redline MTL, I have no notch from 3rd to 4th, and only an occasional notch between 2nd and 3rd when the transmission is cold. No grinds, even when temps are below freezing. Transmission temps are down when towing 7000+lbs. loads, I can tell by putting my hand on the tranny wall. My friend's truck shows the same shifting improvements.
NVG has admitted that there have been some durability problems with the 5600 synchronizers and for '02, they put hardened materials into the surfaces. I think MTL has a better "balance" between load and gear shock and the synchronizer friction coefficient than other GL-3/4 oils I've tried, including the Texaco MTX standard recommended by DC, which is no longer manufactured, apparently.

Horace, Hi I took a look at your twins today and put that propane system I got from you up for sale. So if and when I sell it I would be interested in the twins. F.Y.I. the propane system worked out great but the twins would be a step up for me. Also I just put in a new set of Bilstein shocks in my truck and was not that impressed with them. Yes the ride did calm down some but for what I got I do not think it was money well spent. OverFueled
Overfueled, Sorry you didn't have the same results with the bilsteins that I did.. I feel like I am floating on a cloud. Feel free to PM me about the turbos.

Battering Ram There were two choices on the weight of the truck for the shock. I went with the 8,000 lb ones. I could of went with the 7,200lb but my truck weighed in at 7,130 with me in it. Which one's did you go with? That could be the difference. Also don’t you have a 2 wheel drive? Mine is 4X4 is that another one? OverFueled

I went with the 8,000lb shocks and my truck weighs close to 8,000lbs. Yes it is a 4x4 with 315 tires. The ride is so much smother than it was I am having trouble judging speed going down the highway. Not a good thing.
