Just the small unless you are planning on spraying nitrous. Then you may have to wastegate the large too, this would prevent overspinning it...

Hey 5.9 Excursion how did you support the weight of that bottom turbo I don't see anything in your pixs or is it just hanging of the top turbo .

It's just been hanging... A bracket would be better I suppose, but this is how they came to me and I haven't had any probs...

How much does the larger bottom turbo generally weigh? I would think just hanging off the top turbo would put alot of extra stress on the manifold and possibly crack it. I guess it is some what supported by the downpipe and exhaust hangers though.

Now for my dumb question so don't laugh could a person use a HY35 as a top turbo to just get my htb2 62/14 on the bottom going a little faster ? just curious I guess .

You could, but the gain wouldn't be significant-- you'd probably be lcuky to end up with the original spoolup of just the 62/14.

In other words, all cost, no benefit

The bottom turbo weighs in at better than 50 pounds if I had to guess. They are all different.

Has anyone ever broke a manifold from the weight??

1st pic is a picture of what HOHN was talking about. (oil feed)

Oil in is the easy part, oil out (drain) sucks. I'll bet a shiny nickel you dont have the boss cast into you block that works as an oil drain. I had to drill/cut my pan and plumb a drain in. (2nd pic)

You dont have to waist gate the small either, but its recommended. I ve been running with NO waist gate at all for three years. My current endevor is to ad a 50 mm gate to the small turbo and replace the 35, with either a 35/40 or super 40. I like the idea of the super 40 but am afraid it will spool slow, esspecially with a 16 cm housing.

1320, whats the difference between a stock 40 and a super 40?

I am also running w/m and had no problems. I was told once to keep the HT3B at 30 psi or less??? HOHN, anything to say on that?

How is it changing your filter with it in the stock location. Most of the setups I see have a remote oilfilter...I'm assuming because of lack of space.

Changing the filter is a test of mental fortitude and of your knowledge as it pertains to four letter words. A remote filter is in my future but I havent found one I like.

The super 40 is what pdr selld I guess. They make claims in there stuff but who knows, thats why Im hesitant to tru the super 40 as a small turbo. Im afraid it just wont spool fast enough for towing. Maybe it would be great though.....

My 12 v had another plug in the top of the oil filter housing , all I had to do was put the fitting in and oil to the second turbo. The drain was super easy but I had the plug at the bottom of the block. took the plug out , "right stuffed" a piece of brass pipe in (3/4) and my drain from the big turbo goes straight down about 6 inches maybe on the the 3/4 inch stub.

The only reason I even redoing my small turbo is , my hx35 is bit chewed up, and I guess it would be a good idea to try to limit its over speed condition, although so far it hasnt cared. I ve never heard to limit a ht3b....mine only make 60 psi with no waist gate, I figure I might make more with a gate on the small turbo, or just lower the egt, or just slow the little one down a bit.

As soon as get a replacement turbo ll be doing it.
