twins, may be cheaper?

ok i got to thinking (scary, i know) and wouldtn it be cheaper to put twins on then to buy a 1500 dollar single charger? using my stock hx-35 and a ht3b? i herd that i can get a ht3b for 500 and i can send my hx-35 off to have it freshened up for cheap right? welding is not a problem. is there any reason i couldnt use my turbo mounted exhaust brake? or do i have to upgrade to a 4'' downpipe and a larger exhaust housing on my stocker? can someone expalin or provide a drawing on how to fab them up?

I've thought the same, you can upgrade your hx35 for $200 to a 60mm compressor wheel, then find a cheap ht3b for about $300. If you have the fabricating ability's why not go with twins it does seem cheaper and a better route??

Not sure on the injectors, but John has told me that head work is a definate must with a set of twins, which is spendy at least with my income.
Ya I've read that hx35 and ht3b are towing twins, while the hx40 with ht3b is street twins.

o rings and head studs. the studs woudl be around 450. i have no idea what head work would cost me. 500 bucks? i think the studs would hold it at around 55 or 60 psi right?

I'm not an expert by no means, but thats all you should need with twins, studs and o-rings.

Where is the place that upgrades the hx35? I want to upgrade mine as well as get a 18.5 or 21mm exhaust housing.

The little odds and ends in a twins setup often gets expensive. The last set I made (35/40 & a baby B2) cost roughly $1k over the original cost of the chargers. IMHO, twins provide much better driveability than a large single. This is especially true if you tow.

so upgrade my 35, get a ht3b, studs, o rings, plumbing, etc. this will cost me around 1500? then the 1000 for bigger injectors and a couple hundred for upgrading my box...... is this about right joefarmer? do you think i can run mach 6's and a drag comp and still tow? what hp and tq numbers will this set up be puttin out?

TWINS ON THE CHEAP:

--- Stock HX35. Keep your stock 12 housing, but cut the divider wall to wastegate all 6 cylinders. Set WG to blow off at stock level--~21psi.

-- HT3B, with smallest housing you can find.

-- ARP head studs with stock gasket. No need for O-rings and such.

-- another $1K for all the miscellaneous crap Brandon mentioned.

I've heard of twins being done for $1700.

JMO, take it with some salt, as I've never built twins, but I've done a LOT of reading on pretty much every twins thread ever posted on here on TDR.

HTT, is where I bought my 60mm compresser wheel and housing kit, then I have the 14cm2 wastegated exhaust housing from banks. Its a real nice set, hits 40lbs quick, and holds right at 40lbs.
Plus I've been told its a good top turbo for the ht3b set up twins.

Plumbing, lines, flanges, exhaust and boots are in the $11-1200 range. The studs, headwork and orings will probably run another 500-3k depending on what you want (the number varies with the amount of boost you want to run too).

With twins you would be running the exhaust out the bottom turbo which has either a 4" or 5" outlet, IIRC. I've heard studs will hold to 65 psi, but if I had the head off I would do o-rings too, depending on future plans.
