twins and heat exchanger
i did a few searches and found some info. some people keep the heat exchanger some dont. i like the idea of relocating it.for the people that have done it, where did you find the npsm fittings for the transmission? how much pressure is in the lines? and if i got rid of the exchanger could i do any damage to the tranny not getting it up to temp. thanks

I have been thinking about this also. My thoughts are to use a differant style Hx maybe somthing with a fan assist and mount it back on the frame someware,i bet that would work fine.....

yea thats what i was thinking but i wonder if it will warm up enough driving in the winter and stay cool enough towing in the summer. the whole reason for the twins is to tow and plow snow. i stil want to hear from the people that have just moved it

i removed mine when i lmills and i built my first set of twins. i was going to relocate it and havent gotten around to doing it yet. but from what i have seen i am probably not goign to. my trans comes up to temp just fine in the winter, i have towed with it, and will be plowing snow with this setup before long. the fittings coming out of the trans are 1/4 npt and i was going to use -8an lines and fittings to relocate it, i still have the line, and all but 2 of the fittings if anyone is interested. i can also get a pic of where another member relocated it at and a pic of all his parts tha the used, which is where i got the idea from. josh

I have had twins on two trucks now, one with the HE relocated and one with it removed. I can tell you its worth relocating. That little HE does more work than I would have believed. Without it temps were either to cold or too hot and both trucks have B&M super coolers, one big one in the front and one big fan mounted one in the back under the bed. How tight your converter is will also make a big difference in your temps.
I ordered the fittings from a local hydraulic supply shop and used regular -10 single wire hyd hose for the plumbing.
