Cool twins done! waste gate question

twins done! well almost...need to install theair filter. tested it already, it makes over 45 psi of boost, 45 is when to let of the pedal!

that makes me believe i need to wastegate it.

here in mexico i cant buy an external w/g i guess!

is it possible to make the stock hx35 wastegate more??
ive read bout porting the divider in the turbo housing, or drill a hole through the w/g opening, through the divider.

or is it possible to make an external w/g by myself? i must be possible. any advice?

thx Silvano

You can open the hole for the wategate to 7/8. Of course drill thru the divider too.
Stock head gaskets don't last very long above 45-50 psi.
I'd say start by letting the gate open on the hx35 by 30-35 psi, to see how it spools the bigger one.

Perhaps no head studs or head work

good enough reason to let off at 45 psi?

After installing an External WG, and seeing the precision maching involved (in the Tial, at least), I would not try to build my own. You may have more equipment ... and skill!
You can always go to a bigger turbine housing on the HX-35, unless already using a 16cm?

All those I know using twins say the external wastegate is critical in matching the two turbos so they operate as a set. There is also a big advantage to venting small turbine exhaust into the big turbo drive pipe!

Normally the wastegate on the secondary charger (top) is set around 20 to 25 lbs. If your wastegate is flowing the gas into your hotpipe (like it should) it will not keep you from making more boost. You will need to install a wastegate in the hotpipe, pop off valves, or turn down your fuel.

does a turbine housing from a 1 gen dodge (93) fit on a normal hx35 ?

or isnt the housing from a 1st gen 16 cm. i've read so, i think!
we have two 1st gens, if it fits, i could just change the housings.
