Which twins?

Not too heavy, somewhere around 8500-9000# but if you ever been to BC you know the hills. With the comp on 3x5 I could pull any hill in OD efortlessly. Cruise set at 100km(60mph) in OD 1800rpm. The most the peddle moved down was to about 1/2 and temps went up to 1100 to maintain. We have one big hill thats arround 20kms long and pretty steep (Coquahala) and about half way up that I rolled into the fuel on 3x5 and it pulled from 100 to 150kms faster than I could believe it was almost the same as level ground and I hit 1200 but the trans temp was climbing so I knew my converter was slipping. Pretty much no smoke either as your always around 10-15psi for boost rolling. Its a ton of money but its sure works right. I wish everything I spent extra money on preformed as well

I guess it depends on the HP you want? I went with the Piers kit because I was able to use my HX35 and save some money up front and if I wanted to run up to the 600hp area I need to do is put a 40 on top.talk to Piers about one of their towing twins kits and using your stock charger for the top I think you will find its cheaper than the BD kit?

I haven't towed with mine twins yet, but I'm sure that they'll work pretty sweet. I just put in a set of 90rwhp injector just to see how much smoke that my twins would put out with my box set on 5X5. There is some smoke at low boost but once the 3b lights, it pretty clear. I just have an old set of injectors, that was real smokey on my Hy turbo. I drove a truck set-up with BD twins and the same 90rwhp injectors. Yes the BD twins lights faster than combo that I run. Other than that there pretty much the same. I would wonder how cool that the BD twins are with big sticks. There is also a couple other vendors on this site that build a twin turbo kits, that you don't have to lose the heat exchanger. I moved mine to the front of truck, and it works nice for the cold mornings out here. One of the forgotten factors for turbo spool-up is your torque converter stall rpm. Mine stalls around the 1900 rpm area. You should try and take a twin turbo truck out for a spin. Thats the best way to making the best choice and its fun beating on someone else's rig.

I would think a set of laser cut DVs would put you past the point of the BD sets ability.
If your planning any more fuel you might want to consider the 3b/hx40 combo. Theres a few that offer it I went with Piers since they are right next store

Ratsun, which tranny you running? I got one done at PDR. I'm actually pretty impressed with it. It doesn't slam the shift hard but it is a hard firm shift. The converter I got is alot better than my old BD converter for holding power and doesn't have a low stall issues. I never drove a DTT truck but I have driven lots of BD tranny rigs. On intial spool-up test, running my box 3X3, I can haze the tires (no boost launch). I have also done several 25psi launches as well, just to see if the billet shafts are any good. I have never had that before the PDR tranny, or running these twins or these injectors. So far the only down side is my tire life is reduced and I have to drive with two hands on the wheel.

Hey Mike
I was runnig a trans that was built by a local shop that built all my gassers, I figured if they could hold down my 498 roller BB with dual dominators and a 500HP NOS system they could handle the one in my truck. They hadnt played with the diesel thing before but wanted to give it a try. I was a pretty good tranny but I managed to tear the 2nd gear band out and I didnt have near the fuel you did. As I said I let them fly at it since I knew they would stand behind what they did for me and they did. I would have to say though at your level and location DTT or Piers are your only option. I have never dealt with DTT but have never heard a bad thing about them. On the other hand Piers has always stood behind all my deals with him. His trans shop is is kindda new but I have know doubt it will be as good as what ever else is availible. As for me the NASTY 24V is gone. I just picked up a 98 12V its got a full blown VF BD trans and brake so I dont really Know what Im going to do (Harry has it sold and one of his in there already LOL) I know I'm going to put my twins on this one but I was thinking of keeping this one pretty tame so perhaps this BD trans will hold up for a while? Other than it not holding the power levels your at how did you find the BD trans?

Oh yeah how do you work this Torque lock thing? is it like the mystery switch?

Hmm very interesting
im considering twins myself, in the future. i was benk on going with Olie Pools b1-B2 twins, i know those support over 600 horses easy, im just not certain if they have lotsa lag or not, I do think tho, that 370s delivery valves, and a 100 plate will have enough fuel to comfortably run them, and since i can rev my truck to 4K now, i dont think that should be a problem. What i dont like about them, is the 4800 dollar price tag... thats kinda steep... PDR twins, i was considerin towing twins, i aint gonna build mine,im just gonna buy, i do tow a two horse alot, and sometimes as heavy at 25K or so, so which twins would be better, seems to me that they both will serve their purpose, i know headwork and studs are needed, as well as pump timing, that is no longer outta the question.
which is the better bang for the buck? i know piers has a reputation, so does olie, but im only gonna buy one set, its all that i can afford. hehehe plus i only have one truck, so opinions fellas?

My BDfide (valve body, torque converter) stock tranny died on the first outting on my new motor. I'm sure a worked BD is better than the one that I had. I heard some stories, first hand stories of their tranny not being any good out of the box. I also heard great stories of them working amazing. Piers just gave me a warranty, and at reasonable price. No one else would do that except DTT. DTT makes a great tranny as well, I have never drove one. I'll let you know how the PDR tranny holds up. I'm gonna have it pulled in a couple months and have it new clutches installed. I want to make sure this thing is good before I trash on it hard this spring. I want to run a big shot NOS system. Theres a Power stroker here running low 12's on juice. Cow town is at 3500 ft, so you give up a second due to elevation. I have only done a couple 25psi boost launches, still with no traction, a three wheel side for about 5 feet. I have to work on that one.
