A HTB3 seems to be a fairly common one. Paired with a HX-35 or 40.

I'm contemplating twins as well. Either get my stock HX-35 rebuilt (needs bearings) or use my PDR 40, and already have a ATS manifold.

HT3b with a smaller (26 or smaller) housing is good with a '35.

I'd go with something more modern than an HT3b. An HX60 is much better in the same size range. Or a Schwitzer unit like a B2-- also very good. If you get a modded HT3b (like from Piers) then it will perform more like a more modern turbo.

I'd recommend a 14 housing for your '35, also. A 14WG is probably the best all around housing for a '35 or '35/'40 hybrid.

Hi Tech turbo has 14wg housings in stock.

Northslope...
What are you wanting to do with your truck?? The answer to this question could determine what twin setup you should go with.
My truck is being setup for towing..so what I wanted out of my twins may not be a workable combo for yours. On the top turbo(35) instead of the 14 I back down to a 12cm gated set at 24lbs of boost. This way the twins light off real early so that I have the max cooling during my towing rpm range. No I wont have the big top end...but I dont drag race or sled pull my truck either. The set that I have is the PDR Towing twins..the HX35/12-BHT3B/26 and it works so sweet. The truck has the throttle response of a sports car...
It all depends on what your doing with your truck.

DITTO! I want to tow and not loose the power (12cm) I have right now except for the egt's. When I was haulin around 4500 lbs of d1 in the bed it would not hesitate to get to 1400* it would do it unloaded too but not so quickly.

Yes...mine did about the same thing with a 14 housing.. I am running Mach 2.5 EDM injectors in my 12v with a #10 plate and 3k GSK so things could heat real quick.
Do the twins with a BHT3B with the 35/12cm gated off at 24lbs(starting point)...you will love it.
Towing our 31.5' TT for only a few miles on flat ground I seen 200* drop in my egt's. Use to run 900* now it sits around 700*.
By going with the 12cm housing they spool between 75-100 rpms quicker then the 14cm housing. Right now I feel the power start coming on at about 10lbs of boost....but you can hear the big turbo starting to sing at 8lbs...

N14 Cummins!

I bought mine from Goldfarb out of New York.. Piers was having a hard time getting them so I went shopping and found this company..
If your interested I do have the part number off of mine so that you can call them for pricing...They do sell rebuilt but I bought this one new and then had Piers do some work on it...

Quite interested!! If you wouldn't mind I'd love to have that p/n# thanks!

OK here's the bottom line I know you shouldn't cut corners but here's the deal my income is mostly outgoing so I like most am on a SEVERLEY tight budget do I really need to be o-ringed or studed to handle 55 psi, mind you I don't race it would be merely for towing and heavy loads which I don't do much of yet and occasional fun lol! I've got 300 hs inj's and 191's and my #100 plate so it's not outa hand hot rod status so it wouldn't see 55 psi sustained.

For your application just retorque your head bolts to around the 100 lbs area. Before doing that check them to see if there stretched. Another thing is to install ARP studs. At 55psi you should be ok, set your wastegate for around 50psi. I would also try to find a HT3b turbo with a 22cm housing for your 35 turbo. That what Piers uses for there towing twins combo. My twins spool pretty nice in my combo. I would guess that there as good or better than my stock 35y turbo. Piers prototype 05 cam is pretty sweet. My truck doesn't even sound the same anymore. Its sounds like the 12v cummins. Its alot of work to do a cam swap and isn't for the faint of heart.

PDR Towing Twins are HX35/14cm gated housing/ BHT3B/26cm non divided housing.
