Twin turbos in Cal....
Hey, had a quick question for those who either live in or know about California smog regs... my dad currently lives in Oregon, has an 01 2500 SRW QC 6 sp that he is building up for a light to medium hauling and DD. He wants to add TT but isn't sure if they will be legal in Cal when they move back there around the end of the yr.
As of right now he has an AFE pro guard, CFM+, and MBRP 4" turbo back, and AirDog II 150..... his plans for end of fall include TT, manifold, injectors, water meth kit and programmer...(looking at Edge cst for monitor and guages).
I know it of course depends on what size injectors and all but would that set up work in Cal? He is a light driver, doesnt hot rod. Will be living in Sonora area, towing will include a smaller 5er and a smaller fishing boat up to the mountain lakes. Yes he knows the build up is over kill for the over all use of the truck, but he does want to be able to enjoy it if he does lay down the skinny pedal in the hills... thanks for any in site any one can offer.

Well tried looking up some info while waiting... seems to be a yes / no... not that twins wouldn't pass the actual test, but fail the visual... seems normal though.. thought this was to make things cleaner for the air, who cares what it looks like as long as it passes the test.. but thats Cal for ya.. wonder why I left 12 yrs ago...

It will not pass smog in California.
Some shops may even fail it now because of the CFM intake. Of course that doesn't mean you cant change it around every 2 years...
Just something he will have to deal with in the Lovely state of California haha

Thank you for that link, he was worried cause he had heard Sonora area was now testing.... but who knows if and when they might start... true the cfm can be swapped for the stocker... but TT will be hard to hide lol! plus the airdog .. Just sucks cause when he started the build up he hadn't planned on ever moving back to Cal.... but mom missed the family and friends... Hopefully he can build it and atleast get a few yrs of fun out of it...
