TWIN HELP PLEASE

Ok guys I have an HX40 and I also have the bone stock turbo off my 02 auto can I combine these to make a set of twins for my truck. If so where can I get the parts to match the turbo's togeather. Also what has to be done to the block head anything to make it daily driveable?

Jamie

Re:TWIN HELP PLEASE

The HX40 isn't large enough to be a worthwhile primary (large turbo). You'll need something about twice the size of your stock HY35 for a twin setup to work correctly. As for the head, an o-ring job with a good head gasket is going to be a necessity.

John

Re:TWIN HELP PLEASE

Thanks guys just curious! I was also wondering what is the max pressure a stock turbo off my truck should make for PSI? Also can I have it modified? To produce more? My hx 40 makes 40 psi but is laggy as hell!

Re:TWIN HELP PLEASE

When it comes to modifying HX35s, HY35s, or HX40s there is only one guy you should consider... Piers. He can mod you stock HY (he calls it the nasty nine), but I think you'll be in a heat issue with your comp box. Instead, I'd send him your 40 for a modification. The difference between a stock HX40 and a Piers modified HX40 is night and day, and his prices are more than reasonable. Also, be sure you're running a 16 cm2 housing.

John

Re:TWIN HELP PLEASE

An HX35 with an HX40 has been done before. Now if you don't want to race it, I would try an HY35, and an H2e as their cfm flow rates are idea almost for a compound setup.

Andrew

An HT3B is not the end all of turbo's, I can think of several after market ones that would work better but there in the 2-3 grand price range.

Jim

Re:TWIN HELP PLEASE

The HT3B will only go 1300cfm at a very high and hot pressure ratio.

Don~
Show me your proof....

We need around 1450 cfm on the first stage to support around 500hp at 3200rpms. The hx 40 tops out at 41psi and 130000 rpm at 800cfm. The h2/hx55 at p/r of 4(41psi) goes to 950cfm at 110000rpm. The next step is the hx 60 is the turbo that goes on the signature 600 cummins, flows up to 1600cfm but the smallest exhaust housing is a 22 wastegated. So it looks like the best combo for the holset is the hx 55 with a 19 wastegated housing.
this is from Adam, someone who I know has spent a great deal of time recearching twins, and who has seen the maps. Not saying you havn't done your homework though, don't get me wrong.

Andrew
