Ok, now you've got my interest. Are there real benefits to doing this? I'm going to assume holding it open will give max boost. And did I not read somewhere that more boost screws up the ecm somehow? Does this lower life expectancy on turbo, or related parts? How much power can a guy realize? Even if it's minimal, the cost would definately be right! I WANT MORE INFO!!!!! Even a website would be great. Thanks a bunch.
This actually holds it closed to allow more boost to be built.
The only guys that need to do this are the ones with auto transmissions I believe 01 and later. The wastegate is hardlined so you can't use a boost elbow. If you aren't running some sort of box then you will set overboost codes. With a box, it lies to the ecm so no codes are set.
I currently use a j hook and spring from TST. It bolts on and is way nicer than the turnbuckle/ spring combo I had. Mine builds 32# max boost with this combo.
Re:Turnbuckle Pic
Well, I've got the 65 horse Superchip(which looks exactly like the edge E-Z), and it came with the boost elbow. Mine is a 6 speed, which allows the elbow. From what I understand, the 2001 auto's couldn't install this elbow. If I was to build one of these turnbuckles, would I find I'd build too much boost at wot and end up having to back off the foot feed? Or should I just dismiss doing this at all? I've got enough power really,(even though more would be nice) it's just that this looks like something a poor boy like me can afford!!!
