Turbo Wastegate Modification Question
I've heard of people making a "Turbo Wastegate Modification" to lower the EGTs. I've done a search and the only thing I can find is that people say to modify the elbow.
Now the question, how is this modification done? What needs to be done? And, does it really lower the EGTs? Thanks in advance.

I think what you are looking for is a turnbuckle.
It is the equivilent to the boost elbow for the trucks with a HX35.
The turnbuckle basically locks the wastegate shut, resulting in higher boost levels, therefore lower EGTs. I had this mod done on my stock HY35, but I also added a spring so that I wouldn't completely lock out the wastegate.
Now, I am not sure if your truck has a HY35 or a HX35. I know the auto's have the HY, but I am uncertain when it comes to the manuals.
If you have the HX, you are much better off. You just change out the elbow fitting on your turbine housing with a more restrictive fitting.
If you have a HY, let me know. I just took the HY off my truck the other night and I have the turnbuckle and spring sitting on my work bench. You can have it if you want it. I see you live in NC, if you are close enough you can shoot up and we can put it on.
Install time is only a few minutes in either situation.

fourwhls00 - thanks for the info and thanks for the offer. I have an HX-35 (manuals have HX's, auto's have HY's). When I got my TST PowerMax, it came with another elbow boost...guess I need to call TST and see what they think. As far as the turnbuckle, I actually have one of those too...still in the plastic bag. It came with my TST PowerMax. Thanks again for the explanation!!!
