i have a sps 62 yes i agree they heat up faster but do not get nearly as hot as a ps 62 i traded a friend of mine for a couple of weeks. spool up was faster by a few hundred rpm but i could not stay in the throttle nearly as long. i can tow 13,000 lbs with whats in my sig and the edge on 5x5 and i can hold it on the floor as long as i like it wont get hot 850-900 deg behind turbo. it dosent matter up hill level ground for my set up it works perfectly.

as far as II goes i will never but anything from them agine. my turbo exploded with less than 100 miles on it. i sent it to them and they gave me the run around and made me pay them to fix it. it took 3 weeks and a lawyer to get my $$ back. but on the other hand now that they put the turbo together right it works great.. i think both II and HTT are getting way to big for there britches.

I won't always preach Garrett, but they really should be considered. What I'm disappointed by the Garretts is that the restrictive outlets can cause really high EGTs after 400hp or so.

As for value, a Silver Bullet is $2000, and a ball bearing Garrett is $1600. Hmm, makes the Garrett look like a better value. Not to mention the BB spoolup will smoke any comparable journal bearing turbo.

The main reason I "preach" Garrett is simply that the company is forthcoming with data. HTT doesn't furnish compressor trim, but they give you the info on their site to calculate it. I.I. doesn't give A/R, but I've heard of a .80 A/R for one of their turbos.

That said, the Schwitzer turbos are very good. But i *personally* am not that comfortable with the modded turbos the HTT and II are selling, given their failure rates and the lack of data the companies are furnishing. Where are the downloadable compressor maps? Turbine maps?

Instead, I'd prefer the "factory" Schwitzer turbos sold under the Airwerks brand. These are factory engineered turbos and I bet they would excel in lower hp applications. The problem is that they are sold under so many different names. The actual Airwerks is sold by Rip Rook as what it is. But HTT sells it as the HTBG as far as I can tell, and ATS sells it as the Aurora 2000.

For towing applications, it's really tough to beat the smaller aftermarket turbos like the HTBG, the Super B, and the HTBG.

Once you go bigger than these in the B-W arena, you are dealing with a modded turbo made by the shop like HTT or II, and not a factory engineered turbo like the Super B or Cool Twist.

I'd personally really like to try a Super B or Cool twist.

The super 62's are performance turbos. There is also an often forgotten step in between the 54mm hx35 and the 62mm s300's being discussed here. The 57 compressor is used in the htbg and super b's.

BTW I have also heard of some bs warrenty problems with II. Something about a silver bullet wasn't warrantied because II claimed there was nitrous used on the owner's drug free truck

Is HTT comparative in performance/value/price (price is always a concern) and which one can be upgraded in the future...you know, in the unlikely event that I want more power?
John, look into HTT. You'll get more bang for your buck. You'll also get a company that stands behind their product. II has some good products, but from what I've seen you get more for less from HTT. Check with Tim Barber at TRE Diesel in VA Beach (DTR Sponsor) goes by "Timinva" on this site. He is a HTT dealer...actually he is a dealer for both HTT and II. He can help steer you toward the right turbo for your needs and horsepower goals.

every company has thier unsatisfied customers i guess, no one company is perfect, do your research and talk to both companies and then make your decision on who you feel comfortable with.

That sounds like the reasonable course of action...
