turbo suggestions
havent filled out my sig yet but i have a 01 auto with a edge juice DDIII's , striaght pipe, BHAF vulcan relo kit.
i need more air, a 62/12 or 62/14 would be great but i am loking for some cheaper options. a little lag isnt that big of a deal. i dont sled pull and pull a light trailer (2000-8000lbs) any racing i out runnin ricers on the street. so lets hrere some suggestions.

Look at my sig. I started with a 62-14 hated it couldn't tow with it, to much heat. I can barely tow with the 62-12 and I am changing out the exhaust manifold and going to the adrenaline instead of the smarty. to solve some of the heat issues. I have to travel up hill at 70 in third gear at 2100 rpms to stay cool.

How much weight are we talking?
I can tow my 5er TH (approx. 11k lbs.) with the TST on #6 up two mile 9% grades at 45mph (4th gear) and stay at 1100-1150*. If I get some 1.5's am I pretty much done towing (even with TST off) until I get the right turbo?

So the Mach 1.5 are too much to tow with even with a 62-12 or 14?

This is the difference in turbos for towing^^.
Even stock injectors or 275s will run hot towing if the turbo is late to the party.
So the question isn't "are 1.5s too much", the questions is: "is my turbo spooling too late?"
Moose, just turn your TST box down or off and even Mach 2s will tow your 5er just fine with nary an EGT issue with the stock turbo. Just don't lug it and don't put it to the floor while towing.

My turbo is definitely late to the party, that's why I'm looking at a new manifold. I would like my sweet spot to be around 1900 in 3rd on hills
You can not compare auto's and sticks, the turbo's act completely different. I have talked to HTT and II and they both tell me that I am about 4lbs low across the board on boost and that translates to about two hundred degrees cooler on the exhaust and about 100 hp of lost usable towing power.
I tow an 8000 lb equipment trailer with 4000 lbs in the bed. I am definitely heavy and the hills get pretty steep in Southern CA.

Did you try bocking the wastegate line via vice grips for a test run to see if you are getting early wastegate creep? Maybe your turbo is a little flawed on the wastegate puck and is not making a good seal to force all of your exhaust flow through the turbine at lower turbo/engine speeds, thus making your turbo more laggy than it should be. When you went to the 12cm housing, did they give you a new housing already assembled, or did you have to switch the wastegate actuator on your own?
