Be patient man. It isn't uncommon for certain posts, such as yours, to go upwards of 12 hours without a response. Most of the members here will not respond unless they have the right answer to your question. My attempt to help you is this....
I think you need a different turbine housing. After removing and upgrading the turbo on a friends 04.5 I noticed that the housings themselves are different.
Someone else will chime in here shortly either confirming or denying my thoughts. Just be patient.

Yup, I didn't respond before because I don't know the specifics to this particular swap. FWIW, Smokindog is correct about the turbine housings - they are different.....you would have to run a custom or modified down pipe on your 2nd gen for the 3rd gen turbo to fit. The turbo sits a fair bit lower in the 3rd gen and the down pipes are completely different.
So, why would you want to swap a 3rd gen turbo in anyway?
