Turbo Question

To the best of my knowledge, I am still running a stock WHC-1 at about 35 psi of boost. I have been offered a HX35 with a 16cm^2 housing for a really good price. Is this turbo going to be any improvement for me. I know I need more turbo...I have the fuel but I can't keep it cool without staying out of the pedal right now.

Just wondering if it would be an improvement or if I should wait it out and buy bigger one. If so how big should I go. Keep in mind this is daily driver and I like to tow but it is also a toy.\

Thanks for the help

The hx-35 and WH1C are the same turbo from a specifications stand point. The main difference is how the compressor housing attaches to the turbo center section. The 16cm housing on the hx-35 would be your only real improvement over the 12cm you currently have and it will only help lower your top end egts. But you can put a 16cm housing on your WH1C and have the same turbo.

I think that with your fuel mods you need a much bigger turbo than either of these, I can't tell you exactly which one, but I would say something similar to size or larger than a hx-40.

While a 16cm HX35 will provide a noticable reduction in egt for your set up, speaking from experience with a similar set up, it definitely will not be enough for your fueling level as apwatson50 said. It will be a band aid fix and allow you to use more of the fueling you have but will not solve your egt issues by any means. An HX40 would be better but I would suggest something more along the lines of a B1 to truely make use of all the fuel you have.

Thank you for your help guys. It sounds like I will probably hold out for a bigger turbo.

If this guy would want to get rid of just the larger housing will it bolt up to my WHC-1 or should I just forget this thing all together and save $ for a big one?

Would an H2B2 be a good solution for him with a 14cm housing?
