Re:Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Install Article

So the Turbo Master works with exhaust pressure, instead of boost pressure?

BTW. Nice article Top.

Stakeman: Yes it operates on exhaust gas pressure. (says Dad)
I asked him a couple of questions in an IM and will post the answers if they are of general interest and if Dad allows it.
I asked some other Qs that wouldn't fit in here.

And not by the way: Very nice article top ( Do I get a cookie now ;D )

AlpineRAM

Thanks!

The bottle of home-brew hit my neighbours house. Funny thing seeing neighbour dance around in flames with cookie sticking out of his forehead

Last time's homebrew made a nice mushroom cloud- I think you sent me the light version

Back on topic:

I am a bit curious why Holset didn't go the same way. Actually all you'd need if you let the adjustability aside would be a clockspring on the wastegate shaft. But htey went for an expensive contraption with all this stuff in there.
Actually I have seen some cases in my life where some things were made simpler by an aftermarket company, and then taken into mass production because it was good. OTOH there may be downsides to this system. Maybe these downsides do not apply to diesels....
Just asking

AlpineRAM

Re:Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Install Article

Just got an IM from Dad, answering my questions.
My personal impression is that this is a well thought out and well tested device.
My clockspring idea would not work... I understand that now.

Re:Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Install Article

Are there any plans in the future to design the controller to work on the '03s or will they work know with a box that adjusts timing and not just fuel? Is this the same Heath that was on the 6.2-6.5diesel page?

Re:Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Install Article

My warranty is gone due to miles so I really don't care a whole lot if an "overboost" code shows or not. But will my computer simply defuel at about 20 psi boost, or will I really be able to run it up close to 28 or 30 with only this mechanical addition? (2001 HO, 275 RV injectors but no fuel box or boost foolers in use)

Re:Turbo Master Wastegate Controller Install Article

Dad, glad to see you over here...I gained more knowledge about gerneral diesel mechanics on that page and most came from you...I went CTD cause the 6.5 shredded 3 tranny's and was in fargo n.d. and had to be home in 3 days so i went to dodge and got an 02 1ton...totalled it in nov and bought an 03...look forward to the controller for the 03...
