Turbo housing size for #10 plate?
Those of you using a #10 plate, did you change you turbo housing to a larger size to help control egt? I see on just about every plate selection chart that a #10 plate will require changes to the "air flow" requirements. From what I've been able to find out, this is to not choke high rpm performance and help keep egt in check. Since I'm under the impression that the choke point is the stock 12 sq-cm housing, I was wondering what others did, had to do, or should do. I was thinking if I go with the #10 plate that I should replace the housing with a 14 sq-cm wastegated unit. I'm only looking to eclipse 300 hp. So, currently, a #11 plate is my first choice at 280, but, I'm curious about the #10. My truck is a 97 Ram 12v, 5-speed manual, and is the 215hp version. The only mods are a 4" turbo back exhaust and an Amsoil Ea air filter #4510 for my BHAF. Someday, years from now, I plan to keep this truck instead of trading it in. At that time I'm going to get into the engine mods that I'd love to do now, but, can't justify on my daily ride/work truck. Thanks for the info and/or advice!
