Turbo downpipe installation

I have a HTT HTB2 turbo on the way along with their 4in. downpipe kit. I was wondering if anyone had problems installing their downpipe with this turbo?

I know it depends on the 4in. exhuast system one has on his truck but I'm ying to find out what problems might be occuring for users on this forum.

I have a MBRP turbo back 4in. exhaust currently attached to my stock turbo. The MBRP exhuast goes up and connects at a 2-bolt flange near the turbo.

I don't know if I'll need to cut my current exhaust or will need to add a few inches of 4in. pipe to install the HTT 4in. downpipe. Thx

I had to cut about a foot off of the MBRP down pipe and add it to the hx40 downpipe. Make sure you have clearance between the pipe and the frame, or you will get a drone that will drive you wild. Other than that, its pretty straight forward and easy.

Got my turbo and downpipe yesterday. Can't wait to install it.

Does anyone know if anyone sells a braided oil return line for the turbo? It seems that connecting this might probably be my biggest challenge since I'll probably be doing the install by myself.

I've noticed others on this form have commented on their views on re-attaching it.

Source automotive sells a flexible drain. The install is petty easy. Just drop the turbo in over so the drain line goes in between the compressor and exhaust housing, slide it onto the studs of the manifold and put one or two nuts on to keep it from falling. Then insert the drain gasket and the two bolts for the drain. If it is a new turbo, secure the exhaust housing to the manifold, release the bolts on the lock collars so you can turn the center section to line up the drain and the drain tube.

Tate, I'll check them out. I know where that the flanged end connects to the bottom of the turbo but not sure where the other end connects.

I'm pulling out my repair manual to review. Thanks for your comments and info.

Tate - Thanks for the info. I have an idea where the turbo oil draiin connects to the engine.

Also, I've contact Source Automotive and have a few items on the way (Flexible Turbo oil drain line, Turbo oil feed line & misc. other parts).

To make my install easier, I've also purchased a 4in. delete pipe, 30in. long with a flare on one end. This way I can keep my original MBRP stock turbo downpipe intact incase I need to use the stock turbo again. I'll just cut to size and clamp.

I'll give you an update once my injectors and turbo setup are in.

My DDP-110 injectors were installed this weekend. What a difference in performance even though they smoke on fast take-offs.

I get no or very little smoke driving decently. I paid a local shop to install my injectors which I later found out I could have installed. I'll do the re-install if/when I switch to DDP-150's or FI Mach 4's.

Turbo install is next weekend...
