"drill the divider" You must have to remove the exhaust manifold from the head to get this job accomplished? And, how big a hole?

You can drill the divider in the exhaust housing or the turbo housing. The wastegate hole is 3/4" so about 3/4" would allow maximum flow in my opinion.

Also in my opinion, it would be better to drill the turbo's divider as that will allow flow between the volutes to happen more closely to the wastegate itself and lower chances or reverse flow.

You can retain a turbo mounted exhaust brake with the third gen 04.5 turbos. Just PM member JLent, he has a 3rd gen 62/71 mounted on his second gen and he uses the third gen cast elbow with integral cummins exhaust brake. If I really wanted a cummins exhaust brake, I could simply switch out my 3rd gen 4" cast exhaust elbow for an integral exhaust brake version.

That 35 psi boost number that gets tossed around for the HX35 is pretty much for sea level. At 6200 feet it is definately a different story. If I remember correctly the number should drop to around 28-30 psi for 4000 feet. I live at 4200 feet.

I ran a Dodgezilla as a single for awhile for the same reason as you, to keep my turbo mounted e-brake. While it seemed to tow well in 4th I had other problems with it. Additionally, I found that in 5th gear that the EGT performance when I was running empty was far worse. With relatively light grades at 60 mph (1650rpm) and I was up around 1300F, unless I really stomped down on the throttle.

In general, that set-up coated my right rear quarter panel with soot that I found a bit hard to believe. So saying that, if I did it over again I am not so sure I would not try the 12 cm wastegated housing as a first option.

Thanks for the info, NoSeeUm. I'm beginning to think a hybrid is NOT for me.
I definitely don't need any more smoke...

Going to try a new turbo intake and maybe a CFM+ manifold intake and see if I can get this HX-35 to cool down the EGT's

Same heat issues here, just hooking to this thread to see where the conversation goes. I have tried, what seems to me anyways, most reasonable options. Actually thinking of reducing injector size to reduce heat. Even spent money for water injection and did not see sqaut for improvement on lowering EGT's.

Now that I've installed the 300RV injectors the truck smokes pretty heavy during turbo lag and towing mountain passes the EGT hit 1500*+ pretty quickly.

I know I need a bigger turbo, but I do NOT want to get rid of my Cummins EBrake. Most upgrade turbo's I've looked at use a 4 inch downpipe that is not compatible with the 3.5 in. Cummins EBrake.

Anyone know of a larger turbo that will still allow the use of a Cummins EBrake on it's exhaust flange?

Any help is appreciated.

How about a belt driven blower? With an electric clutch so you can turn it on when you need it, run on the flats without it?
