Turbo choices.... please help....

i'm looking at finally upgrading my air/fuel delivery system.... i have some 191's i'm gonna install at the time i do this.... but here is my delima....
I'm looking at HTT turbo's as there is a dealer here local if i ever have any problems so i won't have to ship it way far away to whoever as the middle man....
anywho i'm looking at some marine 370's with my 191's..... and these 3 turbo's
Killer B2 64/14
Quick Diesel 64/14
and the Pro Street 66

i want something that is definately streetable, easily towable, low/managable EGT's, and not TOO laggy.... and i don't want to blackout the road trying to get the turbo to light.... i'm leaning more toward the QD64 or the Pro Street 66..... i'm looking to get in the 400-500 hp level with future upgrades to yeild more (ie. Headwork).....

Forrest please chime in.... all pro's / cons / and first hand experience will be greatly appreciated..... Benjamin

Thats actually an interesting link there buddy- the stage one is the turbo aka the edge BB, but I can't find any info on the stage 2. They say its good for 650, which according to turbonetics turbo matrix that'd be something like a t-66 or t-70. Then there's the unlimited hp stage 3. Maybe thats the one Garrett's running

I was a prototype machinist there for 8 years. that blue dodge in their web page, runs a t-61 bb and makes over 1000 lb. ft of torque. no propane no nitrous nothing but fuel

I think my question would be how much power will they actually support on a 12v and how their spool would compare to an S300 variant. Also I didn't notice anything about pricing on that link. If their Stage II would support as much power (if not more) than a Pro Street 66 and spool better I would deffinately get one (as long as they aren't $2k+).

Looks like the t series is around $2200+ msrp

I know that the 64/14 is more than enough turbo for 500 hp, well it is on a 24v anyways.

alright.... until Pure Diesel Power starts sellin Turbonetics i'll prolly just deal with HTT.... i've heard nothing but good out of them.... all the big guys around here run them.... Darren Morrison, Jeff Garmon, the Stuckey's IIRC... so i guess i might go with the Pro Street 66..... it seems i won't be able to outgrow it any time soon....

If your looking just to be in the 500hp level Forrest made like 534?rwhp with a SPS62. If you plan on doing headwork like porting and polishing then you can use a smaller charger than what would normally be needed for a set power level.

A 66 is going to be laggy, and hard to tow with. Just dont kid yourself into thinking it wont be. Yes, it will probably be great for all out performance, but I would go with a SPS64/14 or something if you plan to tow much at all. It should handle 500hp, and be fine for hauling stuff still.

ok i've narrowed it down to the 64/14.... but the next question is which one? the Quick Diesel or the Killer B2? any experiences with either? why is one better than the other? other than the price difference?

a guy fell through on gettin my turbo. couldnt come up with the money. i have a Industrial Injection SPS 64/14 with only 5k miles on it. if you are interested pm me.

The main difference is the bigger turbine on the QD. The bigger wheel allows for more rpms so it'll pull harder on top. People have been saying that the larger turbine would make a 64 less likely to surge, but to my knowledge I haven't experienced surge with my 64/14 so I can't really comment.

12Valve is running a killer b2 on his 12v, but says it lags too much at 5000 ft. Might be worth a pm.

If you are going to stay about 500 HP and are going to tow(how often) The superstreet 62 is your best bet. If you are not going to tow very much then try the 64. Remember all the HTT line is upgradable for a few hundred if you end up going to more power. That is what is going back on m personal truck.

i don't tow very often but when i do it's mainly highway driving with engine RPM's at ~2k-2300 so i'm not really too conserned if it dosen't spool like my stock charger down low as i already expect anything bigger to be a good bit laggier.....

Well I finally managed to discover surge Only took a year of driving to find out how to make it surge

I'd get something with the bigger pinwheel regardless which size you choose. The 62 should be enough unless when you say 400-500hp you really mean 500-600 hp
