Turbo Bark?

Hi I just put an AEM intake on, sounds great turbos super loud. Now if i get on it a little bit and then let off the throttle fast it makes like a whoosh noise kinda like a bov, is this turbo bark? My friend said that this is bad for the truck is it? I think it sound really cool but can i be damaging anything? Thanks

Paul

Watch this video. http://video.thedieselgarage.com/sea...427337F90E.htm

At the end of the video when Garret lets, off and you hear that turbo sound that's barking. To me it sounds like your truck is just spooling down, which is fine. Aftermarket intakes often help make this sound

CTD01,
Where did you find you AEM intake filters at?
I just put my stacks on today and I would like to hear that turbo SCREAM. Does Any body have any cheap suggestions under $100? I planned on Removing the stock air box and simply replacing the stock air filter with something better. How would that sound?
Any advice/ Suggestions would be needed,
Thanks,
Wheelo

Intake

The intake makes the turbo really scream. Just buy the intake try to find a used one. This is what my turbo sounds like after the intake

BHAF, I think they are about $70 and will make your turbo sing a little better along with pulling the silencer ring. A scotty II would really do the trick.

Willy91,
If that is just the air filter, I will have to get me one. Any body know where I can find one at? By the way, I have no silincer ring!

You'll need to slide a piece of 4'' exhaust inside the BHAF inlet to allow the factory clamp something to grab onto. Also, some sort of drip guard (old smokee mount, etc) is needed to keep rain water from running onto the filter through the crack between the hood and fender. These filters don't react well to water. They DO bring out the turbo sound, though The H1C turbo, as you stated, doesn't have a silencer ring and, sadly, is much quieter than the newer trucks, but the BHAF will help you make the most of it.

Since I put my mods on when I get on it...let's say to 28 to 32 psi boost and then let off the throttle my turbo now Barks. It is the same sound as in the video at the end...the three low churps. It actually started after I bought one of the "Nicer" boost controllers off E-Bay to surpase the 22 psi delima I was having before. What causes the barking (besides the $30.00 peice of metal in the wastegate line) and how bad is it?

barking can be pretty hard on stuff, my uncle snapped the old B-1 my truck had the other day on another truck by barking it to much.

Sounds really cool but it's not good on turbo bearings and shafts.
