Turbo Advice

Ok i know there is a ton of info on this subject, but reading through all the forums, i still don't know what a 64/12.... or 71mm thingamagadget is... or what company makes what. I'm looking for a new turbo, i just got the smarty, have an edge ez (which is probably gonna go away, for a larger box of some type) BHAK, 4"straight pipe. I tow a 30' fithwheel in the summer, so i dont want to mess that up, but i want more power for everyday driving!! As i said i know theres alot of threads on this, just looking for the basics, names and #'s would be great on who to contact. THanks

How about using something like the Hybrid Dodgezilla. That is something i was considering. I tow as well & do not want to race down the drag strip. I just need to get more air & lower my EGT's.

it would help but if he want to get larger boxes amd maybe a set of injectors down the road i would get anything having to do with an hx35. and for a little more yo can get a htb2 series and get better performance. and growth ability.

If you tow....never go bigger than a 62 compressor. A 64 is just way to laggy. If you don't plan on going much higher on HP....a HTB2 62/12 from www.htturbo.com will be perfect for you with your current mods. If you plan on adding big injectors....get a Super Stock 62 from the same company.

Are you running too hot with your current setup? I don't see any injectors in your sig- just the smarty and/or ez for fueling. You shouldn't need a new turbo at this point. If you don't have one already a boost elbow can get you some more air out of the hx35 =P A bigger turbo on stockish fueling won't make more power, but would run hotter and lag more

You can't beat the price if you have a hx35 in good condition for a rebuild into a 35/40, but these don't last long at high boost. IMHO its a prudent choice for the towing crowd even if its not as tough as a phatshaft or htb2.

russ's stock turbo has 170k miles on it. he lives at pretty high elevation, double trailers through a bunch of hills. i am trying to steer him to an II sps62/14 for the growth potential. i have had great experience with that unit.

Well, just how long will they last if I am playing at 35 to 40 lbs a lot. Obviously you cannot run up & down the highway at that kind of boost, or the blue lights will be on you. I have practically a brand new(not rebuilt) HX35W, with the waste gate locked. i don't know why they even put waste gates on these things. I am having egt problems even just on level 2 & definetly level 3 & up.

Sorry can't speak from experience on reliablity, I just know when I sold my hx35 it went to HTT for a rebuild into a 35/40. Bob Wagner and many other have gotten 400+ out of the 35/40's.

thanks for all the info, and right now no, i have no issues with temps at all, even when pulling, although i have not towed with the smarty yet??? What kind of difference would i see if i went to like a set of 275 rv injectors, i'm sure injectors are a full subject also!! My VP is a year old, i have the vulcan big line kit, and a holley blue mounted in front of the tank, i have a constant 12psi showing no matter what i'm doing. Again thanks for the info, i'll start making some calls....

Ok next question then, should i upgrade to a different box, edge comp or something along those lines or ungrade injectors, i've heard some complaints around here about going different injectors, when its -30 and i have to drive to work? is that an issue??
