Which Turbo?
New Member, just found this site last week. Been on TDR for a long time, nice to have an alternative. I am running DDII's with a comp, (tranny is done). I can only use level 2 on the comp with the HY turbo. Only other mod I want is the turbo, just need to be able to use the fuel I have. Later I may go with propane and a drag comp, but I am keeping these injectors. Which turbo do you suggest? Thanks.

Re:Which Turbo?
I do not tow everyday. However, I do pull some heavy loads a couple times a month, (32' stock trailer) and haul pickups on a flatbed.

Re:Which Turbo?
I hope to have my website up soon with loads of specific Turbo info and Lots of Pics..... But for now here is a few of the Turbo options :
B-1 Bomber Turbo = HeavyDuty, Very reliable even at HP levels above 600-700+ Yet out spools any current turbo I have seen that is able to match it's CFM/Boost levels. Average Egt drops are 400 deg compared to a HX35.
KSB-1 Same as the B-1 but with a smaller Turbine housing. Around 15% faster response than the B-1. Egt reduction varies with truck setup.
B-1 & KSB-1 Side effects= Blown off Boost hoses ;D and Tends to Bark at Ya when you get off the throttle fast.. (Doesn't hurt it a bit). Also some B-1 / KSB-1 Turbo owners have reported surging under throttle usually when towing up a grade when under 2000 rpm. (This is due to the large size of the compressor wheel flowing more air than the engine can accept). (We now have a fix/Mod for this if it is excessive with your trucks configuration).
NEW: Soon to be released are wastegate actuators for the Dualwaste gated B-1 housings... Easy to install on existing trucks with expected increased HP numbers and greater Egt drops.
Also a External remote mount wastegate/ drive pressure control that will work with any of our other turbo models.
NEW: The B-1Bex3 and The KSB-1Bex4 These are faster spooling versions of the above turbos but with the new -2 Turbine wheel. These are just as Tough and let's you use the Hx40 16cm2 Style Down pipes for a direct bolt in and some of the Hx35 and Hx40 size Turbomount Exhaust Brakes.
Also we are just releasing the K-45 (HX40 Killers) 8)Line of turbos. They are for anyone wanting a bigger than stock turbo but not requiring the B-1's High HP durability. They have a Huge compressor wheel which is close to the B-1's size and some are expected to spool as fast as stock HX35's and move more air than a Big wheeled Hx40. Max boost up to 40-50 psi on some versions.
With the different variations of the K-45 and B-1's we can build one to your specific performance needs.
Sorry for the long post they have had me locked away for 2 long!!!

Re:Which Turbo?
Piers HX-40. Spools faster than a B-1 and dyno's about the same as well. The B-1 is tuff, but if you are not running big fuel and N02 I don't think it is necessary.

Doug

Re:Which Turbo?
It sounds like we need to have a turbo dyno off. Someone need to try all of the above as well as Piers newest Super turbo HX-50 Rocket. It needs to be a 12 vlave w/ 4K GSK so that we can see what it will do at higher RPMs ;D
