Question turbo.

I was talking to some guy about diesels and turbos and he told me that when you shut off your truck you should wait about 5 minutes for the turbo to get fully oiled and to slow down. i have never heard about this, is it a important thing to do or is does it even matter. i cant imagine it taking 5 minutes for the turbo to slow down. any thoughts?

Well i have heard about it before a turbo timer will increase the life of your turbo. 5 mins is a little long three max or until down to 300 degrees. Watch your pyro and you know when it is safe to shut off not when it is 550degrees.

I wait till 300 degrees. In my 12v, thats right away. In my 24v, it takes longer. Its so the oil doesn't breakdown due to heat and coke up the bearings.

Mine will never get down to 300. I have the timer set to 350.
