Tuff Country traction bar questions
traction bar link Tuff Country traction bars, not the ladder bars.
I've searched for more pics of these but couldn't find any and have read tons on the different bars out there. I'm tired of the jerky axle wrap made worse with my CON FE grabby clutch and want an inexpensive fix.
My question is these are "tension" type bars that are setting above the axle center line, correct? That would make them not have the problems of bending under compression like lower mount bars. They also look like they are mounted in a way that allows them to move in a very similar arc of rotation to the axle as it compresses, correct? They are definately cheap and don't hang down and look like I'm trying to drag race every truck I pull up next to. (not that there's anything wrong with that!).
Also, I have read about them not fitting on 3500 trucks with upper overload spring. My 2500 has a similar upper overload spring. Will that make them not fit without removing that spring?
Thanks.

the only thing about those ladder bars that worries me, is that as the axle rises on a bump, the distance from the axle to the point you mount the ladder bar on the frame shrinks a bit. the axle is travelling up and down but the bar needs to swing in an arc so you get stress on the mounts in the extremes of suspension travel. Has anyone found this to be a problem?
Id love to run a set of ladder bars since I have had problems I think are related to axle wrap.. but Im worried about weirdness in the suspension as the bar pushes the axle back when it rises over a bump.
Lazar's stuff looks top notch, IMO. Thats the set Id get.
Ive also seen some designs that use a pivot on one end to get rid of the bind...

fabtech has a set with a pivot too but they clamp on the axle instead of using the plate / u-bolts.
There was another with truck pics but I cant find it.
