TST vs. Comp

TST vs. Comp
Well I finally got the TST installed on my truck and all I can say is good lord this thing fuels HARD. I turned the smarty off for some initial testing. Comp on 5x5, smarty on stock, I could hit 42psi and 1250-1300*. TST on 4, smarty stock, 45psi and 1400*. TST on 9, smarty stock, 50psi and 1450*. I turned the smarty on 5 and jeez this truck moves. Numbers are about the same but dang. It literally feels like I'm driving my dad's corvette because it slams you in your seat. Don't ask me about mileage yet because I'm having WAY to much fun with this.
Funny thing though is that the smoke is down considerably. Even with the smarty on 5 and the TST on 9, the smoke is much easier to control than with the smarty on 4 and the comp on 1x2. Don't get me wrong, it'll still lay a nice thick cloud, but it doesn't last near as long as the comp's cloud did and it clears up completely where as with the comp there was always a slight trail.
Tranny is actually holding better now if yall can believe that. The shifts have firmed up, they happen quicker, and it just holds. For now. Knock on wood.
Overall, TST/Smarty RULES!!!!!

Blue - Glad you like the TST!
I never got too heavy into the TST vs Edge thing, and it use to be really hard to find anyone that had tried both! Always thought both were excellent.
But the Smarty/TST combo appears to definately be smoother and stronger than the Edge Comp/Smarty (even #'s). I have seen hard test results that this combo is stronger for HO CTD's ..... now data is coming through for the SO's as well.
Glad the change was worthwhile BB. And you say it's easier on your Tranny?? Also, 50 psi boost? Must have the external waste gate shut down?

Well if you go by my boost and EGT numbers then no but it's wierd. It literally feels like it's holding better. I don't understand. It pulls so much harder and faster now. Watch it die on me on the way to lunch.
getblown5.9, I'm gonna open the wastegate up a bit and drop it back down to about 40-45psi. I don't like 50psi on the stock stuff.
displacedtexan, I talked to Stefan at DTT the other day and even he himself says he has no clue how my tranny is holding together. If his VB is this good then I can only imagine the tranny.

Yup. 350hp VB. And no, they ain't been easy. That lockup switch sure is a fun little toy. 450 would sure be nice but I doubt it. I should definately be up and over 400. I just gotta remember to turn off the dang AC when I dyno again.

You're killing me Blue...I'm driving a stocker, and your getting ready to buy your tranny!! Not having power is killing me I've even turned the old '95 down a little...so I don't have anything with 400hp anymore!!
OK, I'm done now...have fun
