Question TST Powermax 3 Vs. TST Powermax 3 Comp???

I have the comp and I'm getting annoyed by the shudder. If I got a regular PM3, is there any shudder at all? Shudder begins on level 5 with my TST PM3 Comp so I was wondering what level would be comparable on the regular TST PM3. Is Regular level 9 the same as the Comp level 5? Who has honestly tested this theory????

I have no shudder with the regular PM3 on level 9. I've tried the Comp. version and really didn't care for the shudder either.

Thanks Mike D. Did you return the Comp or just borrow one? I kind of want to send mine back and have it programed to a regular PM3!!! How do you like the Mach 4.5/TST PM3 combo???

You're welcome. I borrowed one from a good friend for a couple of weeks. I been trying to talk myself into getting the comp. upgrade but can't get past the shudder problem. I love the PM3/Mach combo. I can only imagine how the shudder would be with a handshaker.

OOOIIIEEEEE, it makes my truck feel very BAD!!! Some say the power level on regular 9 is the same as Comp 5. How true is this fact??? I'm wondering if it would be worth the swap????

Yeah! I have always heard that #5 on the Comp = #9 Regular. But I never got shudder on #9 and I can (sometimes) with Comp on #5???

But there are also times when I get little or no shudder on higher settings? Have not been able to discern any pattern as to why? If I had to guess I would bet H2O/Meth decreases Shudder at WOT....seems to anyway but have not done serious testing, yet.

The power added may be the same but the Competition versions runs a higher duty cycle hence the shudder you get when using the Competition version.

I have heard the Comp #5= regular #9 as well... however I believe the comp on 5 fuels much harder on the top end than the regular TST does

The problem as I see it with the comp. version is, how well does the fuel get delivered to the injectors? Poor atomization of fuel is a concern. After talking with Mark at TST he said the vp44 is pushing max fuel with the comp. some vp44s can deliver, some can't. The fuel solenoid is getting some extra stress beyond what the regular PM3 requires. You can only go to the well so many times. I guess it gets to a point of diminishing returns.

I'm thinking of running it again as I'm for some reason only getting 30 psi boost lately these days???? I use to get 35+ psi with the Edge Comp and now with the TST Powermax 3 Comp, It's hard to break 30 psi??? I don't know if it's a boost leak or my VP 44 not pushing enough fuel? I'm lost again and I think it's time for a 3rd gen. Like Kevin, I would love to shoot for 600 hp with way less mods!!!

Your sig says boost elbow. Might check setting. I assume it's not closed off completely or you'd be at a lot higher boost, with your bombs?
