TST powermax

I was looking up some info on some HP upgrades for "my precious" and I happened along TST's webpage. They have the old style powermax box with the 60HP setting for $150. If I stack that with a smarty programmer and some injectors will I be able to get to 350-400HP or do I need a larger box? If I can get to the 350-400HP range will an aftermarket tripledisk TQ be enough to handle it or will I need a whole new tranny? I got an RV TQ in her right now. Where does that fit in between stock and tripledisk? Thanks for any help.

That would be a good stack. I'm running just a valve body in my tranny with almost 400hp and it's holding fine. I'd say the powermax/smarty stack with a good valvebody and maybe a new single disk converter and you'd be good to go.

Do you think thats its a good buy at $150? It doesn't come with a warranty and its the old style box that doesn't have any settings to choose from. It only has the 60HP setting only. Will that be able to get me to the 400HP range with the smarty stacked? What kind of valve body did you get and is it easy enough to install by myself or do you need to be a tranny expert to try and tackle it?

I started a thread about those tst's a few days ago, cuz I thought people would be really interested in them, but I guess it was considered spam so it was deleted

I think its a great deal and complements the smarty nicely. It'll just have a switch to turn it on and off. Add some f-1 injector and you'll be happy, but I dunno how happy the tranny would be

I got a custom made one from DTT for about $450. You can install it yourself if you feel comfortable with tranny work. The instructions they give you are very helpful and detailed with lots of purdy pictures.

The trannys my biggest concern right now. Do I add the upgrades to the engine and see how long the tranny holds up or do I upgrade the tranny and then do the HP upgrades?

A 60 hp TST and a Smarty will be a nice stack but you're going to need at least 80-100 hp injectors to get 350 at the wheels.

Will this combo make my truck undrivable as a daily driver? I'm still wanting a daily driver with some kick. Should I upgrade my tranny first before adding the HP? And does anybody have any clue about this RV TC that I got in my truck?

Heck no. I'm at 400hp and it's nothing for me to go on a 350-400 mile trip. I drive my truck to work everyday in stop and go traffic with no troubles at all. If anything the extra power makes it a better daily driver (to a point).

The wise thing to do would be to upgrade the tranny but most don't do that. A little 60hp box ain't gonna hurt it. The smarty might if your not careful just because it fuels SOOOOOO hard down low. I have no clue on the RV TC.

That should be a great combo, I run my TST COMP on level 1 every day with my old school Catcher, and with the Jammer 3s injectors the truck is just real fun, turn the box up and she becomes downright mean one more thing, be careful in the rain, it will get a lil sideways onya quick , I say go for it, I bought my TST used with no warranty.

Well thanks for all the help guys. I would still like to find out some more about this RV tranny. If anybody has a clue as to what that is I would appreciate some extra info.
