TST #8 plate

I found a good deal for a #8 plate. I was wondering if a #8 plate slid BACK would hurt my tranny. I was wanting a #10, but found this one. My truck has 4.10 gears w/ the so-called "HD" tranny. What are some signs of a good tranny? When I shift it to drive, it takes a second for the torque converter to engage, but you can feel it as soon as it does. Back to my original question, can my auto had this? For more details on my truck, see my signature or just ask me.

Thanks
Michael

sure you can, look at what i have, and i still have a stock auto with 270,000 miles, and i beat mine, every one holds up different. mine right now is shot, i cant feel any of my shifts, and i can slipp the tq converter just going on the freeway, but hey not bad for what i have and my plate is almost all the way forward.

You should be OK with an 8 plate, BUT......get some guages. I had an 8 slid forward about 0.060" with a 3K GSK and no guages for a while. When i finally installed the pyro I was getting temps around 1400* at WOT. Not super hot but I'd rather trade 20 HP for piece of mind.
My torque converter went shortly after I installed the #10 and 215 injectors.

My #8 made my TC slip not long after i put it in.I had a shift kit put in, setup for hauling and it helped a bit but i still need to do the tranny this spring as it will slip under high torques.
