Truck Dies after WOT run???

I'll try and keep this short and sweet, went and dyno'd my truck last weekend, rolled a 575/1310.. everything fine, on the way home got behind some slow cars, so i passed like 4 of them, (im in MT so lots of road) well i ended up running about 115 mph as i went by these ppl, the adrenaline was on 10 with a 2000-4k program loaded.. went i got the pass complete i just got off the throttle and waited for the CC to kick in.. well it didnt, so i stepped on the gas pedal and it was on the floor!! Truck was dead, i looked at my FP gauge and it was on 0!!.. So i pulled over and checked fusses, all good, got back in and hit the key and i got FP, so started it up and no more problems, till last thursday, once again i was on 10 pl, and honked on it and as soon as i got off the throttle it died, no FP, so waited a min. and hit the key and it fired back up, so went and filled up cause i was on an 1/8 tank, took off from there and did the same dam thing.. so pulled out the smarty and had 4 codes..but the one that bothers me is a 1691.. cant recall exactly what it is, but something to do with the IP!! Am i losing this thing, its only 3 yrs old, is the adrenaline messing me up here?? I'm running 20psi off the Air Dog. Hope someone had an idea here?? I made some calls and i'm gettin the IP is failing?? This is my daily driver and summers finally here so cant afford to be breakin down with my trailer and boat in tow?? Thanks for any info...

I would look at the fuel pressure issue first, then I would try to isolate the problem by using a different box.

Run a new different tune and see if it still does it. Anytime i messed with one of the old 4k's it would kill, and freeze up my truck to the point i had to go under the hood and unplug the box and would set a code or two as well, don't remember which ones though.

You're probably getting out of the throttle too hard and locking your pump...

I've heard this before, but why all the sudden did this start? I have not changed my driving habits, and i do drive it hard! Also forgot to put in, that ever since the first time it did it, its been a bear to start, and when it does theres a big white smoke cloud, and it doesnt matter if its hot or cold, does the white smoke on start up. Also seems like it is noiser than it use to be.. the "rattling" seems more pronounced. What ever is happening is killing the signal to the LP, cause it just goes right to 0 and the truck is dead, wait about 30 secs and it fires back up? Thinkin it might be time for a HRVP?? Thanks for the info.. gonna load a different program and see what happens..one more thing, i loaded the dyno only program for the run, its the first time i've done this, could that have jacked up the IP??

Only time I've seen this issue it was injectors. I can't give you a reason why or what was wrong with them, but after swapping in a different set, the problem went away. This was after putting on a new comp box, new comp harness, all new FASS lines and pickup tube(looking for a possible pinhole), MAP, IAT, and a new VP44. Heck, we even swapped out the crossover tubes and injector lines.

The only thing that made it better was the different injectors, it had jammer 100hp tips, we threw in a set of mach 4's that were setting on the bench. Never had another issue.

White smoke on start up is a tattle tale sign for a VP...

I don't know how to explain why this type of issue can just start up.... one day driving in to work, someone cut me off in traffic so I hogged on it and got out of the throttle and it locked my pump... now, I had done the exact same thing other times under different circumstances but that was the first time it locked... had to crack lines and purge the system. I've locked it with and without wire tap boxes... the last time it did it, I finally chased down an issue with a leaking injection line nut.... not that this is the case here since you have codes(I never had codes) but these type of gremlins can pop up randomly.

ok. so loaded a diff. program on the adrn. then the gf wants to drive for the first time, so off we go...and you know the rest of the story!! Never fails, that someone rolls up beside us and wants to run.. and of course she had not a clue how this thing runs or how to shift it fast.. so needless to say i'm glad we had a long run...she's fast learner! anyways no problems with it dieing, checked the datalogger, 58psi, egt 1100 (no water) rpm's were 3000.. so i'll check for codes tomorrow, but it seems to ok now.. since earlier today it died twice and i was only on 2...i'll keep ya posted..

That is why Quad removed the 4k tunes. They fueled so hard that if you got off the pedal too fast, it would vapor lock the pump. I'm still running the 70% fueling 4k tune & I have no issues at all. It is a custom tune that Quad made me for dyno day & I love it. It doesn't pull as hard as the new stuff before 3200rpm, but after 3200, this tune pulls hard to 4300.

When I tested the new 4k box, I had surging at 3000rpm. I unplugged it, plugged my old box back in & it surged for a entire day before smoothing out.
