Truck dies after WOT???
I mentioned this in my other thread about porblems with my turbo but i feel a new problem deserves a new thread titled acordingly.
to night i went for a drive and in 3rd gear i held it to the floor and as soon as i let off i threw in the clutch to stop for a stop sing. well it died and when i tryed to restart it, it kinda acted like there was air in the injector lines. i had to crank for about 6 seconds with the thorottle on the floor then it started to run on one cylinder. then after about 3 more seconds it fired on all 6 and reved up. It also has a slight miss at idle but only when warm and a slight studder sometimes when acelerating. You guys have any idea why it would die??? it was trying to do that to me the other night but i kept feathering the thorottle so it would not die. it never did this with the stock turbo. My juice monitor reports that the lowest fuel PSI i have seen is 8 so i dont think thats the issue. it seems like air is getting in there but i dont see how that could be possible with 8 psi of fuel preassure.
it seems like every time i do somthing to add more power to my truck it just makes it run worse.

juice was set to as usual kill . truck has 144,000 miles but i have only owned it about a year and put on about 12,000. after i bought it i installed the juice and it had 0 Psi of fuel perasure and i drove it 500-1000 miles like that not to mention what the previus ower did. i just dont understand how installing a bigger turbo can make it die. it never did it with the stocker.

Could it be possible that some how the high boost = higher combustion preasures that some how are feeding back into my injectors??? and getting air/exhaust/soot into my injectors and lines??????? or have i just had to much to drink tonight?????? it had a little bit of a studder to it ever since i installed my injectors but i allywas thought maybe the pump is a little weak but this whole dying thing has crossed the line. it has a slight miss but only when warm since it idle fine when cold i though the injectors were ok and so were all the conections.

Not to step in but I have precisely the exact same problem when I run the smarty on 9 and I really root on it, I do not have a box though. but the injectors are really big. when I push the clutch is just dies like it took a big gulp of air. has happened 4-5 times in total. Though I am technically useing the stock lift pump relocated with big lines. I'm hoping actually installing the FASS this weekend will cure it once and for all. I'll let you know.

I had ran into the same problem and it was after a hard run-It id from the injector pump is cavitation and then you have to bleed the main inj line at the head to restart. After a had run let off the throttle slower and the problem will stop.

that sounds like a very possible explanation but the one thing im having a hard time with is why with my new turbo but not the stocker??????
with my old turbo i have had the juice set to kill and held it to the carpet before and it never even thought about dying. so why does it start doing it the day i install my new turbo??????

It very common with the VP44 and large injectors. What happens is kinda like vapor lock. Just carry a wrench with you. BUt the best way to prevent this is not to let off the throttle so hard, you need to ease of it and this will never happen to you.

Yep end of the track I leave the clutch out, back off the throttle easily, and give the throttle a couple blips just to make sure she is still alive before I throw in the clutch... never fails! Sucks to lose brakes and steering at 100+mph!

Are you running WOT longer with the new turbo? EGT's don't climb as fast with your extra air, maybe you stay WOT longer, thus cavitate the pump more and now it will die. Did your truck surge at the end of a hard run before, just not die?

im running WOT for less time because it runs through the gear faster. thats why i was using 3rd as an example because before i would make it through 3rd with out it defueling. before the turbo it would shudder during acceleration but not after. now it still shudders during but not as much.

You're draining your injection pump completely of fuel. Sounds like your VP is starting to die. I've had pumps that slowly just die and don't make any power. You make more smoke and egt's are higher with a weak pump. I currently have the same issue but I'm driving this vp into the ground before it comes out.
