Tried pulling yesterday with new set up

We went to the pull yesterday, 99 2500 auto. 250 schied stixs, drag comp, htt pro street, all supportings mods for power and traction. My georend tranny has the tripple disc low stall coverter. When it was my turn all i did was put 600+ hp up in black smoke. I sat on the line trying to build boost,(foot on brake and full throttle i get 1250 rpms) I got up to 8lbs and started and i lost boost went to 5. Rpms never came up past 1400 and i just creeped 80 feet down the track billowing smoke like an oil refinery blew up. I was running 4x4hi with 1st and 2nd 35 in tires 410 rear gives me about 30 mph at 3k. So what is my problem? I think the converter needs to be changed.

In 4 low my wheel speed will be 2 slow. In 3rd locked up 4 lo i can only get 15-17 mph. With that my ground speed will only be 12 -13 mph. Locked up in 2 high i have the possibility to have 30 mph wheel speed with mid 20s ground speed. But i couldnt get it to light.

I've heard running in 4hi will cause major carnage in your drive line, its apparently way better to run in low. As I've never pulled yet I wouldent be the best to give advice but the guys I got this advice from are defenitly not beginers.

I think a lot of the problem might have been the full throttle trying to build boost. too much fuel can kill the charger. and when you let off the brake too much to get going and the charger feel on its face and could not light

Auto i 4hi? You'd never get any speed built up. Never seen anyone pull on the highside with an auto and do any good usually just burn up the tranny.

Get a higher stall converter. I had suncoast build a 1900 stall, and I will be installing a 2400 stall this winter. I can build 15-18 psi at the line. I too had a low stall converter and would leave the line with low boost trying to get it to build. Not anymore.

I'm happy with my 1900 and you might be too. I would like just a little bit higher RPM to launch with and get the sled moving, hence the 2400 stall. The low stall converter wants to lock up at low RPM's not allowing you to get on top of the turbo.

if its an auto tranny always use 4 lo nomatter what you think you got and use 2nd gear with the converter locked to get the power to the ground

your running a big sticks, big single and low stall converter. It would be nasty slug until the turbo spools. Once the turbo spools its would be a fun ride thats for sure. You probably be melting the tires off, at your 60ft.

When I pull the sled I do use 4lo but I have 37s and I let it shift all the way to drive and lock up. If you do what everybody else does then you'll pull like everybody else does. Last 2 times I pulled the sled operator said 26mph. I say keep the technique, change the converter or let it go all the way to OD in 4lo. If the tranny couldnt take it then it wasnt strong enough.

Im gonna run it at the strip in 2 weeks to see if i can hit 12s but im not shure if i can with this converter. Its very hard to build boost on the line, at 8lb i cant hold the truck still anymore, it starts lurching. In 2 wd if i just stomp on it from a stop it starts spooling in 2nd and when it shifts to third it just burns the rears off. I love the way it drives on the street with the low stall, but i think im just taking it off the street and just pulling with it. Ill call Dave G. and see what we can arrange for me.
