Transmissions

What all do I need to rebuild a transmission for my 99 Dodge automatic?
I don't pulls sleds. The most this truck will pull is a small car hauler, or a cattle trailer.

My truck has a Edge juice w/attitude module and that is really all I plan to do to it besides the extras that need to be applied to withstand the module.

I would like to rebuild the transmission myself, but I need directed towards good stuff.

If I had $3800 dollars to give ATS I would. But I do not. I need a cheap but good resolution.

99 Dodge Ram with 24 valve diesel. It has an Edge Juice w/Attitude.

I need to know what all I needs to rebuild the 47re transmission to withstand the added power of the module. I only pull horse trailers, car haulers, campers. etc. I don't do the high performance stuff. I need suggestions on good transmission parts, and what I should purchase. I want to go cheap without having to rebuild again 2 years down the road.

You can shave $600 off that just by going with Goerend... Or you can get all the parts from him, and have a local guy put it together.

If you are going to do this yourself, how are you going to take to OD unit apart and put back together?? Need a special tool and a press to do it.

Does he sell a rebuild kit like DTT and suncoast and if so what sort of price difference is there. I didn't see one on his website.

If the tranny is in good shape and you just want to make it stronger or get rid of a sloppy torque converter, then it sounds like all you need for now is a good torque converter and a valve body.

Don't waste your time with the converter alone, you need the valve body reworked to get the pressure up so the new TC will do what it's supposed to.

I have read allot of posts of guys doing this with great results, even a TC and shift kit. If your tranny is toast, then I believe the kits are only around $400?? KD

Yes, he sells a kit like DTT, and suncoast, but his website isnt very good. You need to call him and talk to him about it.

Here is a question. How would I ever know if the clutches in the Transmission are in good shape. The clutches won't slip when the converter is stalling. There isn't enough torque. If you push the pedal down. Its just hard to tell anything. You have tires squalling, your eyes on the road. What symptoms are good to watch for?
