Transmission question

I've seen some posts on here stating the once you get past around 350rwhp you need to go ahead and get an aftermarket tranny (auto). I was wondering if this is really necessary or can you get by with a good torque converter and shift kit? I (and more than a few others) are doing fine at over 400rwhp with the stock tranny in my Powerstroke; only upgraded the tc and added a shift kit. Thanx!

you can get by with a VB/ shift kit and good converter for quite a while.
Give this guy a call 866-309-8200 (Robert).
He can hook you up with a good price.

I would also recommend Dave Goerend ( www.gbtransmissions.com ) or Stephan Kondolay ( www.dieseltrans.com ). Both will give you a straight answer and not try to sell you things you don't need.

If you want to just get by with a shift kit you might as well buy a good V/B, if you want the hard shiftin, tire smokin ability then i would suggest none other than HTS. Dusty is staight forward and can build a trans second to none!

I agree, give HTS a call. I would go with the best you can afford. I didnt and it ended up costing me more in the long run
