I got a quote here locally, to go back to stock would cost me $1700 (drive in drive out).

[QUOTE=bryceepoo]STOCK VS. PERFORMANCE COSTS???

So my questions:

What does it cost to just have a tranny re-built (for just a stock rebuilt tranny) at any ole shop compared to the aftermarket performance diesel shops (for something to hold maybe 400-500 horse)???

How does it work if you're not fortunate to live near one of these shops? Can you order the part and trust your friendly tranny shop can do the install and rebuild for you with your new parts?

Well I had mine built about a year ago and to go with a stock rebuild was around $2200.00 for just the trans rebuild not for the high performance. Now you beef up the components...ATS, DTT, Gorends whichever you prefer.

TC $1300.00 or so. VB $800.00 Billet shaft $750.00, TC Controller, $500.00 beef up the clutches a few hundred more $$$

There's your $5000.00 High Performance Diesel tranny in a nut shell!! Now find a tranny shop that has built some good tranny's and has excellent service and your set. I could have driven to Colorado and had ATS build it personnaly for $4975.00 was the quote but I have a friend who owns a reputable tranny shop and he was $5000.00 out the door for the full Stage V build and it was done locally and now I have him to service his Tranny

Have built some 47re units STOCK for 2000 or less depending on hard parts needed. If in Washington, plan a drive to see DTT, do it once, do it right.

I think when mine finally goes out(hopefully a while from now); if I can afford it; I will go ahead, and have Dave Send me the rest of the tranny. I have the triple disc already which is a big chunk of change. I wuld do the R&R myself. I just wonder what it would cost to have a shop go through my tranny with parts I bought(upgraded stuff), If I do the R&R, and allready have the torque converter.... That may be what I do. Depends on what the price difference is between that and the rest of the stuff i need for a full GB tranny. Goerend has a great warranty, so if the price is close there is no reason for me not to go with his tranny. Just all depends. I hope I dont have to decide for at least a few years though

I had a trans built by Coffman transmission it cost me $2300. They put a RV converter and a shift kit in it for me. The converter lasted 8 months and the tranny just died 2 years later. I have priced many trannys lately. Goerends has great price for what they offer. The one I had priced was about 3.8K. Dtt was 4.3K and suncoast was 6.5K.. G's had billet input and Intermediate shafts. DTT had input only and SC was full billet.. I wish I could go back about 2 years and buy a Full billet trans from one of these builders.
