trans upshifts hard with DTT. normal?

Just had this trans installed and noticed I get a real kick in the pants each time it shifts. Is this normal? even when Im light on the pedal it kicks when it upshifts. Feels like I hit a bump.
Seems from previous posts its normal with the upgrade that they shift real hard, even to the point of shirping tires when theres a lot of power behind it (not on mine yet).
Seems like it would put abrupt stresses on the driveshaft universals and ring and pinion.

Pretty normal for a performance tranny, depending on how the built it for you. The good news is you'll get better fuel mileage.

I put mine in neutral at a light yesterday on a wet road. Went to put it in drive with my foot barely on the brake and the engagement spun the tires.
After I got over the shock I thought

Yeah the shifts are gonna be alot firmer with alot more line pressure your new trans has,and accordingly of how you wanted them to build it, does it have a 47re valve body or the optional 48re vb in it? Or never mind you probably have a 47rh in a 95

Yeah, light throttle or moderate throttle upshifts can be pretty abrupt. Fred Swanson softened mine up some after I commented about it. If I "off" the camper someday I'll have him install the "livestock" V.B. which is supposed to be milder. These trannies do rock though!

DTT has three options with their tranny builds. Towing, livestock, and race. I have the livestock and it shifts solid, but not firm like a bang every time it shifts. Sounds like you have the towing set up possibly. Anyway Im sure you will agree....would hate to go back to the origional tranny now....Regards..happy shifter...

yep pretty abrupt shifts. I still do wonder about the loads placed on the differential when it sends power through like that.
No way Id go back to stock, this was a great mod. Feels like I put injectors in the thing. How am I going to keep tires on this truck???
Hmmm.. now I gotta decide what turbo to use.

There are a lot of ways that DTT can setup the tranny. As mentioned before they have the three different basic valve body setups. Over and above that, they will make other mods to adjust the shifting, depending on what you tell them you want. When I was asked how I wanted it to shift, I told them harsh! I love the way mine shifts! During full power 1/4 mile runs, it will chirp all 4 tires on the 1-2 shift! I love being able to put all that power to the ground. I also daily drive my pickup, and tow a small travel trailer with it (often to the race track ), and it shifts great in all those conditions.

Maybe Ill look into asking my installer if its possible to smooth the shifts a little without costing efficiency or power. Ive been experiencing some rear diff problems even before the transmission

I'm certain I have one of the more 'race' models. When towing an 8k trailer empty, all the shifts are hard. I've even considered buying one of these.

maybe if you guys dont mind, PM me or here,

and the price's for those parts that u paid?
it would help me out alot on my truck hunt.

i dont need labor costs, i can get those myself.
