trans troubles
heres the deal...my trans had around 2k miles on it. it has worked perfectly until now...I lost over drive. no warning lights came on or abything. my battery connections are clean and fine. I took the truck to AAMCO so they could look at it (for free). they said i need to check to see if the #3 and 4 solenoids are getting juice. im hoping the problem is just a connection. what do you all think?

they are prob refering to your gov preassure solanoid or speed solanoid... because 1-3 are all cable shifted... 4th to overdrive is preassure actuated... so if the valve body is screwed up or has a bad sensor or cross bleeding it can cause you to drop overdrive but the truck can still drive fine in 1-3 under half the circumstances.

It could be the solonoids . You have a TC lockup and od solinoid on the valve body. They might have gotten metal particles in them that makes them hang up, and your trans guy didnt clean them or replace them , There are 2 on the VB. One of mine I think is sticking after a overhaul. I get a volt spike and 1740 code that comes and goes once in awhile. They can be cleaned also . My trans guy has a tech sheet on cleaning them.
