Trans Oil Pan alternative to the $$ aluminum.
Hi folks,
Just wanted to through this out there for the guys in need of a new oil pan. I picked up this 12 tube cooled trans pan on E bay and am pretty happy with it. I primarily wanted a pan I could silver solder a 1/4"NPT female fitting on the side for my mechanical temp gauge and this galvanized pan was perfect for the weld job. It holds 3 extra quarts so my long temp probe sits well below the trans components. The only ***** is the pan was a little warped so you must use the hard plastic reusable type gasket, not the standard type that comes with the pan.

Looks decent.
Does it come with the filter spacer?
We use the B&M cast aluminum pans at our shop, about $40 more than that one.
But any pan that will add extra fluid and help cool, should be a plus.

I think the filter rests on the tubes. The tubes are much thicker than the pan metal and appear to be brazed solidly in place. Aluminum is nice but I personaly like my silver solder job of mateing the brass gauge probe fitting directly on to the pan. It was something I could do myself, not so with aluminum.

??
The aluminum pans already come with a 1/4'' hole for the probe.
Even if they didn't, they are 3/8'' thick in several places and could be drilled and tapped very easily.
