Trans Conversion Suggestions ?
I have a 99 24 valve W/ a power max 3 . I am on my 2nd Automatic trans the guy I bought it from already had it re built. But from what I've heard there isnt a good fix for them . So I am thinking of Converting it to a manual. I would rather have a 6 speed than a 5 speed. And I have seen the kits for $3500 . But I was wondering if a 6 speed would bolt up to mine since mine isnt H/O?
99 24 Valve , 4x4 , QC, SB, Powermax 3 , 4 inch sky jacker suspension lift,4 inch down pipe off the turbo, 5 inch stacks , Viper Hood scoop, Fender Flares, Brush Guard,TowMirrors, 37 inch hummer tires 3rd VP44 and lifr pump , Power slideing rear window

For $3500, you'd have a real good start on a built auto. Check into DTT, Suncoast and Goerand for strong slushboxes. If you're looking for a fast truck, the auto is gonna be hard to beat. Just not nearly as fun as a manual. Its said that for equal ET's in the 1/4, you'll need an additional 100 hp in a stick than an auto.
A 6 speed will bolt up to the engine, but a new cross member and driveshafts will be required for it. I don't know if the 5sp and auto share the same crossmember or not. I also think the t-cases have different inputs between the standard and auto.
One thing to keep in mind is that the NV5600 is no longer produced, and parts are getting sparse, and are at premium prices. While the 6 speed is strong, if/when it needs a rebuild, its expensive. And need a good size press (50 ton) for disassembly. The NV4500, while not quite as stong as the 5600, is still beefy, cheaper to rebuild, and I've heard it can be done by most competent do-it-yourselfers. I'll be finding out sometime this year.

Yes it will! We converted my buddies 98.5 about 2 years ago and we went right to the local Dodge dealer for the pedals, slave cylinder, shifter and cupholders. Got the tranny, (5sp) flywheel and clutch from a tranny shop. Everything purchased new he spent right at 3K.
Everything is there on your truck. Just have to cut the hole in the floor. Only problem we had was the oem cluch didnt hold up so he had to buy a tripple disc. All good now!
