Which Trans
I know here in the future that I am going to need a tranny. Shoud I be looking into an ats, dtt, bd ect. Which will hold up the best. Wanting to end up with around 300hp to rear wheels. I want the best bang for the buck. Also which torque converter do yall think is the best. Or is the stock trans with a new valvebody and differnt torque converter sufficient? Thanks.

Loaded question...second only to "Which Oil should I use" in starting a war!
Need to do your homework (search) and also talk to each Mfg. If your sure 300 hp is all you will want in the future...I was once also....than you may not need full rebuild. (here again call them and see what they say). Some Mfg's, more than others, go for long term, trouble free service, by using more Billet parts and offering more features. This approach costs more. You need to decide how important these are to you.
What you will get in most responses to your question is..."I love mine!" That's because most have perfected their trade and all do a good job. Up to 450 hp is now commonplace and can be done well by all, IMO.
I feel a local installer is important too....you have a very expirienced one from DTT in Salisbury.... http://www.powerbypoole.com/dtt.html
Any doubt in your mind about "300 hp"....compare full rebuilds, if affordable. Do it once and forget it for the next 150,000 to 200,000 miles.
By the Way...I love my DTT!!

If you are seriously not going over 300hp, then do a good triple disc converter, and valve body, and you should be good for a long time. Especially if you have updated clutches put in at the same time. I reccomend goerend, but all the big tranny manufacturers are really good. Goerend has lifetime warranty on there triple disc.

Any built tranny will hold 300hp.. Well, except my old ATS, which died with less than 250 (QC problem with the trans) Depending on which part of NC you're in, you might be just as close to Tim Barber, who did a helluva job on my trans... But I've heard a bunch of good things about Poole as well!

When I built my tranny I thought that I was done making power. Hp is like a drug, once you start you cant stop. My first tranny was from HTS with a race valve body and a Suncoast single disc converter. Then I had around 300hp. When I added my 220hp injectors and a new turbo the torque converter could not handle it. Also the input shaft blew. I when back to HTS and now have a full rebuild with a valve body that increases line pressure a lot. Also I have added a bullet shafts and a Suncoast triple disc converter. I had the option to put in a Roadrunner quad lock converter but I heard some bad things about them from HTS and went with Suncoast. I recommend buying the best you can so you dont end up rebuilding again.
My tranny
Suncoast triple lock converter
Bullet shafts
front servo upgrade
5.0 shift levers
racing bands
AA shift bands
race valve body(huge line pressure)
upgraded lines
lockout switch
other goodies I dont remember

I think it will be hard to stay at only 300hp. If your like me it will save you money to build the tranny for 500hp. That way you won't need to upgrade it again later.
Whatever extent you decide to build it to... i strongly suggest DTT. Mine has been flawless in the 80000 miles i've had it. I run it pretty hard too.
