Tranny upgrade

My 95 has a rebuilt tranny. Its got 60,000 on it with no problems. I tow a 10,000 5er a lot. Changed the fluid and filter about 20,000 miles ago. Found clutch dust, but I guess thats normal. I run Amsoil synthetic with no problems. Am interested in a heavy duty torque converter. After reading some articles about getting the power to the ground therorie that is what I need. Can I put a heavy torque converter in with the "stock rebuilt tranny" or should I just go with a total heavy duty tranny? Also can a local tranny shop handle a job like that? Thanks

I will be getting a tranny from Goerends. Having it built for about 400+hp. Triple disk t/c lock-up clutch, modified valve body that allows tcc lock-up in all gears, new flex plate and some other goodies. Great prices, too.

Also check out (in no particular order) ATS, DTT, Sun Coast, to name a few off the top of my head.

A new higher end tc may cause the rest of trans some issues. For example I dont think DTT will sell just a tc without a valve body. I would suggest going all the way. Do as BMoeller suggested call the ones he mentioned ask them all questions and then go with the one you feel most comfortable with. Most have installers across across the country and or are willing to help the local trans tech get the stuff installed properly.

Call Dave Goerend and talk to him about a tranny upgrade. The info you will get will really be helpful in what to do. I'm sure the other shops can help also, but I found Dave to be real informative and helpful. Good luck!
