Tranny Steps

My trans is getting to the point of no return...Im just wondering where you guys would start. I have to nickle and dime it (college student w/ alot of bills). As of right now Im planning on getting a Double Deep pan, Valve Body and Torque Converter. Whos running suncoast? Ive heard great things bout them and have rode in trucks w/ their components and was impressed. Lets say im running around 400 or so horses...would I need billet shafts? I dont want to spend good $$$ and still have stuff break.

You don't need Billet till 500 hp (and then, only if towing heavy)... unless your power braking and drag racing.
Good info on DIY, less expensive rebuilds here...

Good luck!

I'm running a DTT valve body and I couldn't be happier. It's been holding 371hp since august. It shifts great, it runs great, and best of all it holds the power no matter what I throw at it. I highly recommend that you talk to Stefan at DTT and tell him your problem and he'll set you straight. I know the feeling of being broke. I'm in college myself and Stefan said that this was the best thing for me at the time.

my setup has been running well and i did all the work myself. I am running a triple disk converter from goerend bro's and i was running a shift kit in my valve body but it was failing so i switched back to a stock valve body with adjustment to the holding preassure and its been holding rather well......only complaints have been i have shattered the input shaft at the strip and im trying to work out the idea of running a 48re valve body since there are more friendly with the higher line pressure settings then the 47re bodys...... "hint from stress fractures in my old 47re valve body and flattened check ball"
